Blowing fuses after working on ECT switch

I’ve been having some real troubles recently with my ECT switch (the one on the thermostat housing). I eventually took the route of connecting the two wires that go to the ECT switch together and thus completing the circuit (what the ECT does anyways). It seemed to work fine. the next drive I took my turn signal/cluster lights/clock fuse blew (10A), and it continues to blow after disconnecting the ECT wires and taping them up (while not connected to anything). Thoughts?

Short to ground or too much amperage
