blown fuse 14 (clock, interior lights, cigg. lighter)

does anyone know what thread fuse 14 trouble shooting would be under do you i looked through like twenty threads didnt find nothing. Something close was how my blinker is blinking rapidly but that ended with a bad connector. Can anyone help me on this.

When does the fuse blow, as soon as you put it in?

Do you have a stock HU, [radio] or an aftermarket one?

What is the year of your G2 and what trim level?
Do you have a glove box light?
Do you have overhead map lights.

Other then an aftermarket HU, [if you have one] are there any other aftermarket “electronics” in your car, if so what are they? 94

I have a stock HU. And the fuse blows instantly. No map lights, no dome light, no glove box light either.

Also my warnign light from the door when the doors are closed is on but only when the dome lihgt is in the center switch position.
And my seat belt light stays on when my belts are plugged in?

And the entire car is stock(lucky find)…

What I mean is does your G2, [trim level] have a glove box light and the map lights, they are on the same circuit as the dome and trunk/hatch lights.

Either way I would start by disconnecting the dome/map light harness to eliminate or confirm it is the problem, once unplugged and if fuse no longer blows the short is in that harness and you will have to pull some stuff apart, drivers “A” pillar trim, dome light, map lights and possibly the head liner to check the harness.

If on the other hand the fuse still blows, move on and unplug the harness running to rear of car, [trunk/hatch light] and see if fuse still blows, then pull and unplug the stock HU and check wiring going yo glove box light. 94

so i took the dash apart because i swapped in a black dash and looked at the dash harness and that was fine no melted wires or anything.

but when i reinstalled it the glove box light worked and now i have the bell ring when i turn on the headlights but the map lights and dome light still dont work and i looked at other things and now i found that the rear defrost doesnt work and the cruise control doesnt work.(could be the buttons though.) Also my clock doesnt work and the radio still needs the code input to turn it on. Has anyone had problems similar to this?

The glove box light is on fuse 11 - 15A, [hot when park/head lights are on].

The dome light is on fuse 14 - 15A, [hot at all times] my guess is it is still blowing.

Unplug the clock, radio, dome light/map light harness, it runs up drivers “A” pillar, connection should be high up at drivers kick panel also unplug the rear harness, runs down drivers side.

Once everything is unplugged install a fuse, if fuse blows problem is in dash harness, if fuse does not blow start plugging things back in, keeping an eye on fuse, start with the clock, then the radio then rear harness then dome light harness, when fuse blows you have found the circuit with the short, it may be the clock or stock radio, so plug them in first. 94

alright i think it is in the harness in pillar a. ill try it out and see what happens thanks for the input

So i unplugged the dash rear harness even the ignition. almost everyplug is out of the fuse box and it is still blowing the fuse. I didnt unplug this orange plug way up in the dash and i didnt unplug the two plugs on the bottom of the fuse box on the back side. Should i just unplug the entire fuse box and look over everything or do you have any other ideas as to why this is still blowing? Or is the fuse box maybe bad? any ideas are great ones.

Then the problem has to be in a circuit that is in one of the plugs you did not unplug, or as you say in the fuse box itself, although unless the fuse box is damaged in some way it is unlikely to be the problem. 94

ok thanks again. I just havent had a chance to get to those plugs its been raining on/off for a while here. Ill be on to ask more questions

check your cig lighter- I had this same problem (common problem) in my CB7 and it was a short in the lighter housing. I went and got a new one from Honda for like 15 dollars, even came with a new lighter (bonus!) Once I replaced that I never had a burned fuse again…

What I would do is turn off car- Buy a bunch of fuses (so you can trouble shoot).

Put new fuse in- turn off all assesories (dome, radio, etc) and then turn on car. Check if fuse blows- if it does go to the next paragraph…

Turn off car & then remove the cig lighter wire from behind dash. Replace new fuse, turn on car. If the fuse is good then you know its the lighter  if fuse blows again then its something else. Should take about 15-20 mins to check this and it wouldn’t hurt.

let us know what happens…

Mike

Nice. i figured it was a common problem because my buddies car that is just sittin in a field had the same fuse marked with a paint marker. Ill let you all know what i find when i find out the problem its only a matter of time before i want to work on the car again(pissing me off right now!!!). A little burned out from working on the car. But thanks again for the info.

I would try and fix it before it gets any colder :tapfing:

sorry i havnet worked on the car actually trying to pull the motor out right now just said fug it ill be posting on this subject though in the summer time
