Blown Head gasket Symptoms

Well I had my mechanic look at my car and he Said He might think I have a blown Head Gasket But not sure…so heres my problem When the car has been sitting there for a while and not driven Its Starts right up…After say 30 mins of driving the car Chokes starting up…and when it does A good Amout of White Smoke comes Out of the exhaust pipe. …I change the thermostat and a new radatior…still no good…Im Also Leaking Coolant, I can’t find where its leaking from cuz it doesn’t drip any where i think it evaporates…

Im hoping its not a blown head gasket Cuz He told me it can run from 500 to 1000…

Also ifs it true that i do Have a blown head gasket Will it be Easier Jus to swap a new engine in I seen Some Newer year Ls For Sale Cheaper Than to fix the Head Gasket…thanks

First of all, it is unfortunate but your symptoms are concurrent with a blown head gasket.
Although the good news is you can do it yourself for around $100
Much cheaper than a swap.
Search around and you’ll find lots of help on changing your head gasket, or buy a helmns manual and it will save you alot of frustration.
The gasket itself is about $70 from acura if i remember correctly.
Take the time to check your compression now and locate that coolant leak.
Good luck

depends if his head/block is warped or not. if they are, he’ll need to resurface them and that is expensive

its not expensive to resurface the head. well not the shop i went to. they did it only for 35$ and they cleaned it.

Edit: i just realized u said block too…i dont know about the block.

yep, blew my head gasket on friday…oil in the coolant and white smoke.

took out a $1500 loan, and i’m getting lsvtec done this weekend…sucks, but that’s what i had to do.

you don’t need to swap your motor…check if the head is warped from overheating, buy the head gasket for $70, and put it in…get new head bolts too, yours may be stretched.

cripes. do a compression test, you lose coolant and you cant find the leak means its going into the combustion chamber and evaporating.

most importantly of all do not run the car without coolant, make sure you keep temps nominal, get a torque wrench and a new h/g and save a buncha money by doing it yourself. this way you can rule out warping and keep the wallet dent free. good luck.
