which gives out better preformance? i know this question has probably been asked but there was none in this thread. im looking to buy a intake manifold, so which one should i put my money on?
if youre broke, go blox…
if youre show, go skunk2…
I have the Blox intake and I like it so far. No problems and a noticable upgrade in power. I give it a thumbs up, esp for the price.
i just picked up a skunk2 manifold off a member on here. haven’t installed it yet, but friends of mine have this manifold and they love it. i’m lookin forward to installing it, it should compliment the crower cams i picked up as well. those are also not installed yet, but i’ve heard nothing but good things of them as well. what kind of power numbers could i expect to make out of those two being added? the cams are crower stage 1 (forgot the part number) for non-vtec motors. and then of course, its a skunk2 intake manifold. for the time being, i’m gonna leave the cam timing at TDC because i dont currently have adjustable cam gears. later down the road though…
You’re running the Crower 402’s (I believe that’s the stage 1’s)? You should see quite a boost in top-end, especially with that intake manifold. Have you got a larger throttle body for it, yet? That would definitely be the next route to go for cheap power.
not yet, but it is DEFINATELY the next thing i’m picking up. yup, they are the 402’s. can’t wait till i put all this stuff in. all of this is also gonna be a small part of my turbo build which should be finished up by the end of the year.
you should have picked up the 402-t’s then
ive heard the blox intake manifold is pretty much the same as the skunk one, or maybe even slightly bigger
well it should be fine, i’m not goin for huge boost out of my turbo project. i had a relatively mild sized GReddy td05 turbo but that was stolen. now i’m thinkin of just goin with a Garret T3 or something. a little bigger, but i’m not goin crazy with the boost.
the 402-t is still somewhat mild…just that it has more lift rather than more duration
ah, oh well though. i bought them used from a member on here for a REALLY good deal. so if i feel i’m not getting the best out of my setup, then i’ll buy the turbo specific ones. we should let this guy have his thread back, i just realized i hijacked his thread. sorry man. :surrend:
From what I’ve read, most people like the blox better. Otherwise check out the AEBS manifold, I have heard that it is bigger than either of them. A buddy of mine just picked one up, and it looks to be a very high quality piece.
Well, i just installed a Sk2 IM on my 92 GSR, i originally had it for an LS/Vtec i was building for my 90 RS, but unfortunately i got orders to korea and had to wipe the whole project.
I would have to say that installing that bad boy should have been a relatively simple process, BUT, wires and clamps and hoses that are 14 years of age, dont really tighten or clamp on or bend like they used to 14 years ago.
Long story short, i had to replace a few hoses, esp. PCV, omg, try finding that crap at 1030pm on a sat night
But other than that, and teh fact i had the wrond throttle body gasket, every thing went well.
IT started up first crank, no leaks What so ever. Made the motor sound a lot better in higher rpms’ , and theres just a hint of a difference up there as well, around 6k to 7,500.
Only problem i had with this manifold was the IAT sensor. On my stock B17 IM, its located on the 1rst runner, furthest away from TB. On the Skunk2 its located on the 2nd runner, which had me running into problems because the FPR sat right on top of the damn thing. So, a little wire work and some heat shrink, and voila. Good to go.
Too bad theres no Skunk2 Tag on the IM its self, i say to ppl its after market and they look at me and scratch thier heads ?
you guys with the skunk 2 manifold what throttle cable plate are you guys using? my bracket only allows one bolt to be used. and is this a blox manifold or a skunk 2?? http://g2ic.com/forums/showthread.php?t=146661&highlight=skunk
If you live in cali, SKUNK2 is the only way to go. it is smog legal!
Also, i was told, by numerous sources that all blox did was take the Skunk2 manifold copy it, and put their name on it!
Josh
blox=skunk 2=same thing
I never knew that the Intake Manifold had a carb sticker or anything like that on it? I’ve seen the s2’s and have never seen a carb sticker? must be something new. I’m in cali, so I’m going to get Blox.
to anyone who has the blox intake manifold for the b18a did everything hook back up easy using stock parts and throttle body?
