Body shop straightening my frame, anything i should do before hand

Sorry for the long title

I was rearended a couple weeks ago, and my car is going into the body shop on monday, 12/19. The frame is oviously bent, i can see that by looking at the car, the estimate also said there was frame damage. This was my first accident

I dont know the procedure for straightening a frame but is there anything that i should do before it goes into the shop. (i.e. remove interior…etc). Im just trying to just trying to cut down on the labor cost. The estimator said that its gonna be in the shop for atleast 10 days. I also dont trust my car in the hands of anybody else.

sorry for the stupid questions, i just trying to save a little time and money
i cant wait to drive my car again(altough, i do have alot of money saved since im not spending it on gas)

Thanks

uhhh…why didn’t they just total your car?

because, its not going through insurance, the girl that hit me is paying out of her pocket.

If I were you I’d go through insurance. Your car will never be the same.

^^ tru dat…You’ll never be able to sell it if they look at it. Your also going to have endless problems with it. As much as you hate to stick something like this to somebody…its something you have to do.

It will probably be cheaper to buy a new one and transfer all your stuff to the other one.

yup, do it. it may be straightened but not as strong as b4. its like when metal is bent and straightned it will become weak.

besides, that will cost a lot like a couple of hundreds just to set up the jig for ur car and to check it

my parts car frame is crooked. i remember asking how much it would cost to fix…i wasked this cause the frame is flawless there is like absolutely no rust on it! but…he said no less than $3000…so i said fuck it, and parted the car out. plus it’s true the metal will weaken, and your alignment may never be the same either. just get another shell, and do a transfer, will be much cheaper.

Me four, I’m also going to go the route of buying a shell & doing the transfer. For the time being, the coilovers allow me to (sorta) compensate for the frame being bent.

well, the thing is. The person that hit me isnt paying me, she is paying the body shop. And its not drasticly bent. Yes i know that it will be weaker. But its gonna have to last until i have enough money to buy another teg. I think you guys think its alot worse than it acutualy is, the estimate was just over 2000. Thats for frame work, new rear panals, and a new bumper cover, this also includes labor and paint…etc

not bad. any pics?

screw it, the body shop called me today, there gonna need 1500 more. That makes my new subtotal around 3800. So im just gonna tell her to give me the money, and look for a new teg. Im calling this guy tommorow morning about a 1993 ls for 1600. ive seen pictures of it already, its looks great. red, 5 speed, 180k(little bit more then my current teg). Wish me luck. :manual:
