Body work

If anybody here can help I would greatly appreciate it.

What is the proper way to take care of/fix the rust spot in the rear fender well? My car has been sitting for the past 4 months and I have not looked at it until yesterday when I put tags back on it. The Rust has gotten bad. It doesn’t look like it has eaten all the way through the metal yet (thank god) but I want to fix it before it gets worse. I know nothing about body work and I want to get it repainted but I heard maaco sucks at body work and I don’t want to pay them to fix it and a year down the road be back where I am at now.

Is there any special techniques to fixing this or special tools/sprays or materials I should be using? I don’t care if there are big primer spots on the car as long as this doesnt get worse while I am waiting or saving to get it painted. And while I am at it do you all suggest just sanding the whole car down.

try steel wool…should rub of with it…

You’re going to need to grind past the offending rust to the fresh metal underneath. Before you apply any kind of body filler, you’ll need to treat the metal with a rust inhibiter or metal metal conditioner. In the past, I’ve used a 2-stage liquid treatment that acts as a replacement for the original factory “e-coat”. After that, the filler and paint prep can be applied.

any reccomendations on certain or specific products?
