bouncing tach...

in the teg tips … the instructions to fix the bouncing tach, where it says to get a good connection with the igniter… How many people have tried doing that?

my tach will bounce sometimes… and sometimes the rpms will go so low that it seems like the engine will shut off. also when i turn on headlights or a/c the tach will drop… will making sure i get a good connection with the igniter fix that problem? or is there something else causing the problem?

Does anyone know of all the things i should check so that I can fix my tach… I want a car that idles perfectly!! is taht so much to ask!!!

btw… thanks in advance for the help

Is it only when it idles? If it hesitates when you’re on it, it could be the oxygen sensor. Mine had the same prob around 3000 RPM and the oxygen sensor fixed it.

Ben

it drives fine… only on idle…

wha does oxygen sensor do?

It tells your ECU how much oxygen is in your exhaust. And your ECU in turn sets the fuel/air mixture with that information. Usually when they go out the ECU dumps tons of gas into your engine and you get the hesitation along with the stinky rotten egg smell of unburnt gas. I thought my cat went out at first so I replaced it w/ a high-flow.
