Brake lights stay on, and have to jump the car

yesterday, when i got home, my break lights stayed on as i turned the car off, and turned my lights off, does anyone know how to fix this?

Yes, the same thing happened to me.

If you were to follow the break pedal up, prior to this incident you would have noticed that there was a little plastic piece covering a whole which engages the break light as you push it in.

The plastic piece probaly shattered from you letting off the pedal in an aggressive motion.

You can nigger rig it, or just order that little plastic piece.
If your not a big guy, try following the clutch pedal up to see what plastic piece i’m talking about.
It takes two minutes maximum to fix.

hmmm, i cant seem to find what plastic peice your talking about, i found a broken piece on my floor board, it was a blue circular thing, is that what it is?

Yes that will be it, it is the “stop”, [not one of Acuras better ideas].
The brake light switch is a N/C, [normally closed] pin switch, the “pin” is pushed in, [when brake peddle is not stepped on] by a tab of metal with a hole in it, the hole is plugged by the plastic stop, when the stop breaks or pops out there is nothing to push the pin switch in, the pin goes through the hole, just “JB WELD” a penny over the hole. 94

If you search for “cruise control” you’ll find very detailed pics of these plugs as they also tie into that system.

thanks guys, i got my friend at the shop fix it, it was exactly what you guys said, thanks for the wonderful help

I just had that problem, luckily I knew how to fix it. So I fixed it with a piece of paper and a zip tie. Cost me like 5 cents and 10 minutes for the entire job. LOL

This happened to me the other day. Sure enough the remains of the little pad were broken on the floor. Fortunately I had another set of pedals from when my clutch pedal broke in half so I just pulled it off that set and stuck it in my car.

FYI, the second set of pedals is from a 92+ Teg and the little pad thingy is all rubber (not plastic like the 90 - 91). I don’t think the rubber one is as likely to fail…
