brake lights stuck on

The brake lights on my DA seem to be stuck on… any suggestions for where to look first?

For now I just unplugged the ground from the battery, didn’t want to drain it…

thanks for any help

Look on the break pedal you might need to replace the little rubber thing that pushes the button in on the switch behind the pedal.

OEM Part # 46505-SA5-000

looking for the switch and can’t seem to find it… how far up the pedal is it, and is there any easy way to get at it?

Here is a picture of it.

Yep, just went and looked and the rubber stopper was in pieces on my floor… dunno how I missed that before.

Will I have to order it from a dealer or something? I take it a junkyard one will likely disintegrate when I remove it.

I would just get a new one. That’s what I did.

I replaced it with a metal screw. At least that won’t break down over the years.

duct tape and a penny in the meantime

The local dealer had it in stock, cost me under $3 including tax. It’s also now a white plastic piece as opposed to the black and blue rubber one that was there before.

I’ll be surprised if I still have this car in 5 years, let alone the 20 years that the original lasted - so I’m not too concerned with the replacement part going bad.
