I just bought my G2 about 3 weeks ago, now I really regret not buying something with a 5-spd. Oh well, that’s neither here nor there. I have a question about my brakes, the other day, after driving around town for a while, I came up to a stop light and my car had this really wicked vibration, almost bouncing. I figured it was due to the rotors being hot. My brakes have a constant noise, I cant really call it a squealing, but more of a scraping or rubbing sound. Does this mean I need new pads, I am figuring I need new pads and rotors, but since I dont have a job, money is gettin tight. ANy advice would be great!
Rotors may very well be warped. Take it to a shop and get them to check it out (shouldn’t cost much), and if they are, see if they can cut the rotors, or replace them.
Good time to check out the pads too of course.
Scraping sound could mean that the pads on one or more of your wheels are dragging. This can happen especially if a caliper has ceased. You can check it by driving a bit without stepping on the brakes. Stop and feel each rotor with your fingers. If any one is hot, it means the pads are dragging on that rotor. Could mean a number of things, most likely your caliper is not working too well.
ITS YOUR ROTORS… THEY GOT HOT TO QUICK AND THEN COOLED DOWN TO QUICK…:vomit:
The scraping sound may be a pad, it takes less than 5 min to open up the caliper to check for sure. Take off you’re wheel and use a 12mm wrench. For the rear, you’ll need a 10mm socket to take off the sheild.
break noise
hey man you said you have a rubbing noise, there is a circular pieve of metal behing the rotor it is very thin and easy to bend that may be scraping on the back of your rotor, just jack the car up get behind the tire and bend it w/ pliers. it happened to me after i replaced my axels. good luck with the fix, post if you fixed the problem.
