OK so some of the buttons on my climate control dont work, and neither did some of the lights. I took the entire thing out including disconnecting it from the A/C switch and brought it into my house to look for those broken contacts you were talkin bout but I dont see any? I got the little orange and green lights taken care of by pushing them back in but I still have yet to see any broken contacts that I can resolder. Help me on what Im lookin for…
I haven’t had mine out in over a year, but if I remember right, if you look at the… bottom of that board, right behind the buttons, you’ll see little soldered connections. What you’re looking for is the connections where you can see tiny little cracks in the solder already. basically if you re-heat those a little with a soldering gun, the connection will be fixed.
Welp thanks for attempting to help but I have this entire thing pulled apart and I dont see ANY cracks in any of the solders. I dont wanna go out and spend the money on another one when theres the possibility Im missin something but I dunno what else to check. All the lights work its just the floor, floor/defrost buttons that dont work all the rest work fine. I think Im just gonna go ahead and get another one anyways cuz Im sick of havin a car outta commision :argh:
If nothing happens when you press the buttons then it’s the buttons. I’d just replace the climate control unit with one from a junk yard. Can’t be that expensive. If none of the buttons worked I’d say check the motor that opens and closes the door in the heater unit. Maybe something’s blocking the door.
Yea thats what Im gonna end up doin, just replacing the whole thing cuz I watched the door when I hit the diff buttons and it went up and down fine until I got to some of the buttons which Id have to hold in oir keep pushing for the door to go up or down.
I went and got one those from a junkyard also. I took it apart and put the 2 of them together and most of my controls werk now, wheras none did before. I bought new bulbs for the little icons above the buttons. Went to a local place called lightbulbs unlimited, they were like 2$ a piece :uhoh:

Flip that over, the connections are on the other side. The pushbutton is a VERY simple device, chances are if it doesnt work, then it is the connection that needs to be resoldered. Even if you dont see a crack, resolder them all and see if they work. I resoldered ALL of the connections for the LED’s and pushbuttons regardless of whether they were cracked or not. It has held up 3 years so far…Buying one from a junkyard and poppind it in really is just a bandaid, the connections need to be resoldered regardless, or you will wind up having the same problem again.
I have never soldered anything either, I would guess that you just put a little extra on each of the little “nipples” so it contacts the board, being carefull not to contact any of the other nipples?
Ugh, I fuked up the solders that I did and all the lights ended up commin on at once somehow. So luckily today I located another climate control unit and put it in. For some reason my defrost button doesnt work but Im so sick of messin with it that I just put it back together (((PITA!!!)))) and put everything back in. Oh Well, next step, the Pioneer 6400 is goin in.
ITs against federal law not to have a defroster…yup, those are manditory. Amazin, eh? i tired to get that POS climate control thing outta my car and i couldn’t even get the, well, anyting off, so i gave up.
