hey guys today i was going 45mph down the road and all of a sudden i had no power. there was no clank or pow noises just slowly stopped and woulndnt start. i feared it was the timing belt. so i towed it home and sure enought it snapped. im gonna take off the head in the morning. my question is do you guys think im screwed. there wasnt any loud noises and it rolled slowly to a stop rather than a violent stop, I have never had this happen to me before so if this sounds wrong please dont flame me. but is it possable nothing got ruined? thanks in advance, its a b18a. Any advice would be awesome.
thanks
Yes it is possible nothing got ruined. You can put a new belt on do compression check to find out, or if your motor has high mileage you may just want go head and pull the head. Do a valve job and have the valve seals do as well.
see if you bent any valves
ok ill find out to today just wondering the likely hood of this disaster. is ithere a 50/50 chance its ok or do you think its lower?
Yeah definitely, back when i used to be riced out i had 2 12"'s in the back of my car and i couldn’t hear it but i could tell my car was freaking out on the way to work. Anyways, after work i got home and when i came out the next morning i started the car and it just made a loud boom and cut off. At the end though all that was replaced was the timing belt and waterpump so it was crazy easy.
