Bump for a solution
I have the same problem now and the funny thing is, my teg just hit 200,000 miles last month. Anyone have any ideas as to how to fix the recliner w/o having to buy another seat altogether? :tsk: I’m riding around w/ a baby-seat flipped upside down wedged behind my seat to keep it from reclining any farther back. :argh:
lol mine broke back about four or five notches… but i like the extra head room!! and mine only has 189,000 miles… lol
mine broke at 125k when i was slamming 2nd lol, traction issues are a bitch

i was coming back from a local drag strip

Mine broke too. I went to the junkyard, got one off of a seat out there, replaced it and all is well again.
Al
it broke… >.< compleetly… i came to a stop and went to take off and it just fell all the way back… i have a jack holding it up right now!!.. damnit!!!
Guess I should start contributing here too…
Has anyone tried actually removing the cap for the recliner, and seeing if anything is broken inside ? like the teeth (or whatever holds it up…) Mine is broken also, I have a sub box keeping mine up… I have ricer seats to begin with so it was even worse constantly gangster leaning in my hatch…
The recliner portion, is it actually easy to remove? Grabbing the part from a junkyard isn’t a problem, but if I have to remove a seat and a rail etc… I’d like to know before hand
mine acually cracked and then finally gave way one day… to replace them on the stock da seats is pretty easy if you have the right tools and are patient…
RECLINER REMOVAL
*first you SHOULD remove the seat it makes it much easier. (see below)
*then remove the two screws holding on the plastic cover.
*then pull the seat back all the way up till it stops and take the bottom of the fabric (leather) apart.
*then push the fabric (leather) up on the left side and move the foam out of the way (dont worry if you tear the foam a little its on the side and when you put it all back together you wont notice)
*next remove the two 14mm bolts holding the recliner onto the seat rail.
*then remove the two 14mm bolts holding on the upper potion of the recliner and remove the assy.
*repeat in opposite order with new recliner
SEAT REMOVAL
*first remove the lap portion of the seat belt from the side of the seat by detatching the plastic retainer.
*next remove the two 12mm bolts from the front of the seat rails.
*then slide the seat to its most forward position and remove the plastic covers covering the back bolts, and remove the two 12mm bolts on the rear of the seat rails.
*tilt the seat to the side and carefully unplug the sholder belt wire plug.
*repeat in opposit order for instalation
