Took off my OEM rear spoiler today and two of the studs snapped right off (one on each side). Thoughts on fixing this?
Happened to me before.
I just used some crazy strong epoxy to put them back in place.
OemAcuraparts have replacement studs, very cheap.
The studs are molded into the wing, no?
Thus when one breaks, you have to embed a new one in the wing?
Like lawngnomeslayer said, id use an epoxy to seat them back into the wing.
My DB2 wing I repaired had a metal bracket to hold the studs. Its different for non GSR.
The graph doesn’t show it but those gaskets, part # 11 and 12, cover a metal bracket which hold the studs.
So yes in this particular case dew1989 will have to epoxy the studs back on but if it were a GSR wing then the studs can be replaced.
Word… Learn something new every day.
I was only going off of probability as that is how my DC wing was. I’ve never had a wing for my DA, or seen a DB2 one sooo lol.
Good luck OP.

I do believe it is molded in somehow.
So you guys are saying drill into the broken stud a bit so it looks recessed, then glue (epoxy) the new stud overtop?
Or drill it out and put in a helicoil/nutsert in.
IMO the helicoil and nutsert are a bit overkill for this. A good epoxy will work perfectly and wont require the work/skill that helicoils require.
edit
Epoxy method works just fine.I’ve done it on a GSR spoiler I had that I purchased with about 3 or 4 broken studs. The studs can be purchased on acurautomotiveparts.org or any acura dealership. It’s almost like there’s a ring around the stud that can be chiseled, dremeled, or drilled out from what I remember. I’m pretty sure I bought the epoxy at Home Depot.
Managed to repair the broken studs via the Epoxy method. Seems stronger than ever! I bought some machine screws at home depot, then re-threaded them to M6X1.
I’ve begun sanding down the paint, and I’m pretty sure my wing is fiberglass? what gives? I thought they were supposed to be plastic

Same thing happened to mine…after two days of hunting and reading through threads trying to find those metal brackets that attach to the GS-R spoiler with 3 screws…no luck. The dealer doesn’t even sell them. The small gaskets have also been dis-continued. This is the struggle we face as these cars are getting harder and harder to get parts for as the years go by.
Anyway, I managed to repair mine quite easily by purchasing some Marine Epoxy from Home depot and 4 new screws. If I was to do it again, I’d say go with
1/4" - 20 X 1" I bought the 1 1/2" and it looks like its going to be a bit long. (nothing a small cutoff tool can’t handle) I’d also say, try to find an epoxy that has a container that mixes the 2 parts for you as you push the plunger…it was a real PITA to have to put both parts on a piece of cardboard, mix it all up like you do Bondo, and then use a Q-tip to try to transfer the mixture where i needed it. I also used a drill bit that was slightly smaller than the screw head so I could make a small depression where the screw head could seat nice and upright. Also, try not to get any on the threads, when this stuff sets up, it acts like damaged threads and when you try to put the nut on afterwards, it wont tighten up all the way. I put a small amount in my depressions first, then set my screw heads in and used tape over the top of each screw to keep them straight and upright. (think setting a fence post in cement) Once that hardened and I test fitted the wing to make sure my new studs lined up with the factory pre-drilled holes, I went ahead and mixed up the rest and put it all over the bottom so I had a nice flat surface to put some double-sided sticky gasket material. 3-M makes some of different widths at the autp parts store. I just laid it on the wing and used an Xacto knife to trim it pefect.
Worked like a charm. Good Luck
