building my own 1pc. headlights ?

ok so, i have a set of the ebay one piece headlights sitting around and an extra complete set of oem headlights and im wondering if i can use the lens from the ebay light and the internals from the oem headlight to build my own franken-light ?
i know its the cheap way out but im broke and this stuff is just sitting around collecting dust so i figure i might as well try.
any suggestions / comments or insults are welcome :excite:

you could allways sell me the ebay black houseing ones (shrugs)

ive been thinking about buying a set anyways ,you could allways put it towards set of real one peices .

but if not i’m sure you can get it to work . good luck

well i would, but the left light has a broken mounting tab and i think the fog in the right one is shot

I believe TegBoi tried this…

He tried it with 1 piece headlights and the clear lens of the ebay headlights.

any idea if it worked ? im still really tempted to try this, i was thinking of putting the reflective plastic part of the oem light into the one piece housing, using a little fiberglass to mold them together and then putting the one piece shield back over.
i know it wont be this easy but those are the basic steps i can think of

it did not work. they looked like crap

Here’s a picture.

that actually not bad at all, IF you have a retrofit…and tint it a little bit:rockon:

yeah they look good to me

Lookin forward to seeing those in the car. Those aren’t half bad at all.

i didnt have the clear lense. i was borrowing them from a fellow g2ic buddy to see how it would look before i went on and bought the ebay lights.

if i could have worked the projector a bit better, maybe have a seperate high beam next to the low beam projector (like the jdm itr headlights) then it may have looked better.

I think if you have a shroud covering the projectors it will looked soooo much better…

a shroud?

projectors work best if they’ve got a clear lense, and nothing in it’s way to project the cutoff as best as possible…

I mean like an AUDI shroud or S2000 shroud, you know the round part? eh dont know how to explain it.
