i just bought a 92-93 front bumper, and was reading in teg tips that u can use the existing bumper reinforcement off a 90, but my acura dealer said i would need a 92-93 reinforcement bar, so i bought one, which one should be used with minimal effort on the install???
Use the new one. 'cause it’s new. The support should fit the mounts either way.
The foam is the different part. The actual bumper mounts are different, but the bolt holes are in the same place. If your bumper sags a bit in the front, get some new 90-91 mounts.

I have a 90 integra and the only thing i changed to put the 92-93 bumper was the foam piece. Out of curiousity how much did the bumper reinforcement cost?
I’m actually doing the opposite. 93 LS w/ 91 bumper. I just got the bumper, support, lights & bumper mounts so it wouldn’t be an issue. I needed the mounts 'cause the holes in mine are screwed up.
Why a 91 bumper on a 93 you ask? Because I have to put this on:
90-91 OEM optional lip replica

I’m actually going back to 90-91. Lucky bastard i would love to get a hold of that lip. Real or replica

That is incorrect.
Bumper covers are different.
Bumper supports are different.
Bumper support brackets are different.
Either cover can be put on either support (foam modification may be required).
The bumper support must match the support brackets.
Those are just the cliff-notes, :search: and you will see this topic has been covered extensively (good starting place is the Teg Tip mentioned earlier). And actually, that reminds me… in general I’d suggest trusting the teg tips before you trust your local dealer. Of course the dealer is going to tell you the other support doesn’t work. Think about it, how would they know? All they know is that part numbers are different when they look it up in the computer. They don’t know WHY they are different or when one part may be interchangeable with another… In general I do not trust anyone at the dealer, I’ve found that I (and most anyone else on this site) know a LOT more than the average guy behind the parts counter. Consider yourself lucky if you’ve found a local dealer w/ an enthusiast who really knows their stuff or is at least willing to try and help you (we miss you Scott!)
Damn, my mistake.
I could’ve sworn the support would fit either bracket. I know the brackets are different for sure. Even how they mount makes it blatantly obvious. Then again, that’s why I just got everything, as to not run into these hassles.
Sorry if I misled anyone. Been awhile since I really examined/compared those pieces.

Where did you get that replica lip and how much did it run you?
Got it from a guy on here named Macross. I’m not sure if he makes them anymore. Gotta track him down. Cost me like $170 shipped to FLA. I think maybe it was $80-100 w/o ship? It was over 2years ago.
Another option is the US Racing lip. Some call it a Hiro lip:

I had one and gave it away for free! only because i didn’t want people out here in LA to notice it so they’d want to steal my lip or the whole car and mine was the lip from macross, He can probably make more if i talk to him about it…
So in short, wouldn’t the easiest way to swap bumpers be to swap the brackets as well to match the bumper support? That way you don’t have to cut any foam?
