I’'ve had to add a one bottle(a quart I think), of oil between the last two oil changes, and recently, my oil light actually started blinking, untill I put some oil in! My car only has 148,000km(160km = 100mi), and the last owner(original owner) took it easy on it.
A friend was following my yesterday and told me that there was blue smoke coming out my exhaust at WOT as the rpm climbed.
I really really hope it’s not the rings. So I’m going to check the pcv valve to see if it’s still ratteling. I have an idea of where it’s located, but can someone give me a description of what it looks like?
I havea used Mobil 1 synthetic 5w-30(i think) since 100,000km when I bought it. Maybe I’ll try 10w-30(maybe I’m already using that, I can’t remember).
Also, I used that carbon buildup spray through my IM a couple months ago, and there was lotsa crap coming out the exhaust for a few minutes after reving it(followed the instructions), but I think that was supposed to happen then. But then I heard somewhere that that spray is bad for honda engines. I don’t know it that’s true or not.
A G3 Teg owner who has taken his engine apart and seems to know what he’s talking about said to me that "I mine-as-well just put a new engine in instead of getting new rings because I’d also have to get new bearings, otherstuff, etc). I’m not sure about that. If I did have to get new rings, I’d probably wait until the engine doesn’t run well, then get some higher CR pistons(10.2:1 maybe) with new rings, and what ever other stuff that would be worth replacing with upgraded parts during the ‘operation’. As far as $2500 Canadian would get me.
Anyway, it sucks and I’m poor.:dead:
