Burning oil w/ under 100,00miles!

I’'ve had to add a one bottle(a quart I think), of oil between the last two oil changes, and recently, my oil light actually started blinking, untill I put some oil in! My car only has 148,000km(160km = 100mi), and the last owner(original owner) took it easy on it.
A friend was following my yesterday and told me that there was blue smoke coming out my exhaust at WOT as the rpm climbed.

I really really hope it’s not the rings. So I’m going to check the pcv valve to see if it’s still ratteling. I have an idea of where it’s located, but can someone give me a description of what it looks like?

I havea used Mobil 1 synthetic 5w-30(i think) since 100,000km when I bought it. Maybe I’ll try 10w-30(maybe I’m already using that, I can’t remember).

Also, I used that carbon buildup spray through my IM a couple months ago, and there was lotsa crap coming out the exhaust for a few minutes after reving it(followed the instructions), but I think that was supposed to happen then. But then I heard somewhere that that spray is bad for honda engines. I don’t know it that’s true or not.

A G3 Teg owner who has taken his engine apart and seems to know what he’s talking about said to me that "I mine-as-well just put a new engine in instead of getting new rings because I’d also have to get new bearings, otherstuff, etc). I’m not sure about that. If I did have to get new rings, I’d probably wait until the engine doesn’t run well, then get some higher CR pistons(10.2:1 maybe) with new rings, and what ever other stuff that would be worth replacing with upgraded parts during the ‘operation’. As far as $2500 Canadian would get me.

Anyway, it sucks and I’m poor.:dead:

Any errors or input from this message?
Thanks, Graham.

you should do a compression/leakdown test to see whats going on. if it isnt too bad, you can try switching to castrol high mileage or valvoline maxlife 10w30 to stop burning oil. since youre on synthetic already i would try 10w30 first like you said.

Read my posts to this same problem:

honda motors do consume oil…

I’'ve had to add a one bottle(a quart I think), of oil between the last two oil changes

that’s normal from my experience.

sorry, each of the last two iol changes. So 1 bottle per 5000km

sorry, each of the last two iol changes. So 1 bottle per 5000km

still that’s within the norm… my old b18a used to do it. my 94 teg does the same… and so does my cousins 97gsr… they all lose a quart every 3000miles/approx 5000km. and none of these cars have any problems. i still taken them on 600 mile road trips.
