Can someone use a certain wait of oil if there car is burning oil to help the engine out?? Did anyone understand that question?? and if not, what would be my best route to go then?? Replace the rings or rings and pistons??
Before I can recommend what oil to use, you have to tell me how much oil is your engine consuming per 1000 miles. Also, are you leaking any oil? What oil brand & weight are you currently using? How often do you change your oil? And have you done/replaced the following:
- PCV valve
- compression test/wet test
- air filter
Answer these for me, and then we’ll proceed onto the next step.

I am using Valvoline durablend 10w-30. I have replaced the oil twice since purchasing and that is once at purchase and once after 1000 miles. The car has 20212xx miles on it. I have a head off of a 94 rs with 74xxx on it. the air filter has been replaced, no pcv valve or compression test. I only drive 4 miles roundtrip to work and barely 200 miles every two weeks. I hope that will help you in your quest for an answer for me.
Thanks,
matt

Okay, you still did not tell me how much oil you had to make-up after 1000miles. In any case, the first thing you should do is:
- Replace the PCV valve (very cheap and very easy to do).
- Do a compression test (do it yourself as the tester costs less than paying the mechanic).
For the time being - since I don’t know much about your engine - I’m going to suggest running Castrol GTX 10W40. This is a dino-based oil which is relatively cheap. If switching to 10W40 helps, then I suggest upgrading to one of the following:
- Mobil 1 Delvac 5W40
- Chevron Delo 5W40
- AMSOIL 10W40 Synthetic
I am very hesitant at suggesting 5W50 oils such as Castrol Syntec, Quaker Synth., or Mobil 1. Again, I need more info.

I would have to say that after about 1000 miles I have added about 2.5 qts of oil to the car… hope that helps…

That’s a lot of oil. You sure you’re not leaking? Could you maybe take a look at your spark plugs and take a picture of them? Or at least describe them to me?
We’ll go further after.

if you’re going thru that much oil, are there blue smoke coming out the tail pipe? if not you could be leaking oil. it could be all of the stuff The_Oz listed plus maybe worn out valve guides/seals. it could be many things.
I sorta figurd that was alot of oil. The Spark plugs do have oil on them when I replaced them, and as far as I can tell there is no leak at all b/c I park in the same place everyday at work and there is never an oil spot there. There is blue smoke on heavy acceleration. Like i mentioned a local shop put the 94 rs head on it for me, is it something in there installation that could have fxxx it up??

Sounds like a spark plug grommet problem. Try running a search here in Integra Help and read up on other people’s experience with them. You might get away with using a thick oil such as 10W40, but with the grommets leaking, I highly doubt it.

now is that gromet at the top of the spark plug cylinder wall??? if so that is a seal that I can buy at acura or a parts store, right?? or are you talking about the actual seal on the spark plug?? I have bosch +4’s right now, so they aren’t cheap plugs. Thanks for all your help and keep it coming

Remove ur valve cover…THe seals are on the underside of the valve cover itself…Right where the holes are where the plugs go in…As for where to get it…I’de always go with OEM parts…
U ever check to see if ur cam seals(T-BELT SIDE) and cam end plug(DIST SIDE) are leakin as well???
I know exactly what your talking about as far as the rings under the valve cover. I am pretty sure of my self when I say that I do not notice any leaking of any sort on the exterior of the engine. Get back with me, and thanks for the help.

Sorry, dude I didn’t really take note of this. Do you still have a warranty with the shop about the head? If so, go back and tell them about your problem. Tell them about the spark plugs collecting oil coz’ most likely it is the grommets. And - correct me if I’m wrong guys - the grommets are part of the head, not the block.
