I’m experiencing a smell inside my Teg like something burned when I stop at traffic lights. Playing with the heater fan changes the intensity of the smell, so I think it’s coming from outside. The smell quickly disappears when I start moving. When I lift the hood with the engine hot, I don’t smell the same thing, and I can’t find any engine leaks. I thought some oil was getting on the exhaust manifold, but I can’t see any sign of this.
This started about six months ago - anybody got a clue as to what’s the cause?
What does it smell like? Burnt oil? Check your cam seals and around the head. You might have an oil leak somewhere and it’s burning on the engine. It could also be a bad cat.
OR you can stop hotboxing… that shit will make your car smell like mary ja wanna for dayzzzzz
A few years ago the contraption on the steering rack where the power steering hard lines meet on my GSR corroded (I think from getting sandblasted with dirt from the tires). Anyway, that thing is located right on top of the exhaust and power steering fluid would drop on the hot exhaust. When in motion, you obviously wouldn’t smell a thing but at stops you can smell a certain odor, not to mention seeing feint puffs of white stuff coming from the bottom. Something worth checking.
same thing is happening to me and i think its either my front tires since the cars front wheel drive i sometimes do a little burn out when the light turns green…or my soundsystem may have been on to long…or it could be paint under hood cuz everything i painted looks nice and didnt melt cause i used high heat engine paint but the headers or whatevers between fan and engine those pipes started changing the paint colors on its cover…but i know its not my heater
Hmm I had a similar issue and it ended up being my blower.Water got into it due to the passenger leak, I would smell a slight burning smell in my car from time to time; This eventually got worse until the point where I started to see a little bit of smoke come from the vents, and the blower burned out;I had burnt wires under the dash when I checked. When driving the smell did dissappear. I would remove the little black hose that goes to the blower and see if water is coming out of it maybe you are having an electrical short.
I have the same thing. but mine smells of burnt plastic. I don’t smell it while driving but when I stop and turn off the engine. Don’t see smoke anywhere. Kinda scary.
Pull the squirrel out of your heater
