Awesome pics. Wish I would have known you guys were gonna be down there. I would have rolled down to hang out.
They were in shutter priority, continuous focus, dynamic area focusing, ISO 100, 1/80 shutter speed for most of them, single exposure. I had it on continuous frame for a while toward the end but didn’t get very good results out of it since the cars move from far to close the focusing has to keep up too fast and you’re better off trying for a single shot each time they pass by. I was on single area focus for the first part of Saturday and it didn’t work too well, so I switched to dynamic area and put it on the left side of the frame (there’s 5 focal points total it uses, and I wanted them to focus on the headlight area). This worked the best but even with the settings all correct it takes a lot of luck to get pan shots. I’m going to be getting a VR telephoto in a couple weeks after Christmas to use at Seca in January, so I’ll have an opinion of how much VR helps or doesn’t after that.
Seca will end up being Battle of the Photographers, Round 2: Hot Pocket vs. Chorizo :giggle:
Hot Pocket was a no show for the Buttonwillow battle. He was there but must’ve been playing his Okama GameSphere all day because I haven’t seen a single one of his outstandingly astonishing track pictures yet. He wasn’t there on Sunday I don’t think.
