pretty lame you wont be able to play the full game if it is used.i think that is bs.but i will definetly be buying one.ive been a playstation guy since ps1 and jetmoto!
F sony!
No way. Best idea ever.
It completely makes sense. The used market is a scam anyways. Developers, producers, console makers - no one worth talking about makes any money off of the used market. Just bullcrap Gamestop. Worst company anyways - I would LOVE to see them fold up shop.
They give you 12 bucks for a game, turn around and sell it for 45 - and then pay their employees 8 bucks an hour. Retail racket.
This idea should have been put in place years ago.
True, but people have spent $3-400 on this system maybe more with the PS Move and now Sony is going to make the PS3 obsolete. I know they may keep on creating games for the PS3 platform but for how long?
Atleast when the PS3 first came out it was backwards compatible and played PS and PS2 discs, this however makes the PS3 worthless (other than the Blu-ray and netflix…).
I’ve only had the PS3 for about 2 years and now this? What happened to developers saying, “we haven’t seen the full potential of the PS3 yet”?
i <3 ps3
This is a great way to free market themselves into bankruptcy. Apparently Sony is trying to compete with Nintendo to see who can run their business into the ground the fastest.
Pc.
+1 on jetmoto!!! lol. But seriously (from a ps enthusiast) I won’t buy your product if you decide to rape me like that. And I’m not the only one. Yea gamestop is a scam (tried to give me $6 for GT5 in the shrinkwrap 5 days after release) but gamers should have the option to play used games if they want WITHOUT PENALTY. I personally still play my ps2 games once in a while.
Not to mention if you dont have internet then you can’t even play your games??!! Sorry if I’m dishing out that much of my hard earned $$ I better be able to play when and wherever I damn well please (internet or not). Just sayin.
netflix and gt5 thats about it. I wonder if apple is going to jump into console games. MS’ kinect is a success IMO.
Hope everyone knows both Mircosoft/Xbox and Sony were mentioned to be supposedly looking to lock out used games. Its not just Sony, so doesn’t really MATTER if you sell ur PS3, cause Xbox will probably follow suit consideirng all rumors are based on both microsoft and sony taking this path.
Unless you want to play nintendo games the the next “wii”, probably be a better idea for them to charge a little “fee” to play used games on ur system again if your buying a used game compared to totally locking them out. Kinda like how some games that use online codes to play its multiplayer to a certain system, and if you sell the game you can buy another code. Oh well will see how this all goes, nothing but rumors at this point.
typically online multi-player and even lots of single player PC games that come with a code are bound to YOU, not the computer itself.
like masseffect 3 code for the pc game, you take that code and put it into your Origin/EA account, once you do that you can never sell that game.
you could try to sell the “account” containing that game code (and possibly others), but it’s against the terms of service and they will ban the account if they find out, rendering the game code useless, and in online games like SW:TOR, Rift, Aion, WoW etc… your characters & stuff will be gone too.
TBH, it’s shitty of them to do this, it will probably kill a lot of used game sales & rentals. places like gamefly will be hurting.
but it’s in line with what the same companies already do with PC games so i don’t fault them really, trying to protect their investment.
just wait till they figure out how to do it with movies.
still shitty, but what can you do.

Vote with your wallet and spend your money else where instead of following along like some sheep.

The resale market needs to die anyways - since the original creators of the game get absolutely nothing from it.
what about books? libraries and used book stores need to die too!
Don’t forget about used cars and thrift stores!
Don’t forget about used women!!!
Don’t forget about used homes!
I do.
I don’t own a console system right now. if i did, it would be a xbox360 because of the kinect. I never bought used games anyway and very rarely rented.
I will not play a game that has a monthly subscription anymore, I will not pay for xbox live either.

Oh, I didn’t mean to imply that I thought that you were a sheep. I didn’t make that very clear. Sorry about that.
