And yes, they can, but it’s horribly dangerous and should not be done. Even a minor accident could result in serious head/neck injuries.

Technically, yes. But if you look at any sites that sell them… It will usually say to NEVER allow anybody in the back seat while the bar is in, usually in all caps or bold. It is very dangerous and could result in a lot of bad stuff for you if you got in a wreck and it killed a friend. Not only would you have that to live with, but the lawsuit that would follow. Not worth it, they are damn near just for looks anyways. I would get a quick release if any at all.
