cable to hydro conversion

I have done a search on this subject and have not found good information on it. First I was going to convert my automatic to 5 speed, at which I know how time consuming it is. But my question is whether I should go with a hydro tranny or stick with a cable tranny. I have heard that hasport has a kit for this conversion, but is it worth it?? What it really boils down to is that I want a “newer” tranny, so that I dont really have to worry about any problems later down the road. Any feedback would be much appreciated. :hugs:

I haven’t heard of cable tranny’s having any sort of reliabilty issues. By all means someone correct me if i’m wrong, but i thought a b-series trans is a b-series trans. The only thing that changed from cable to hydro is (obviously) the way the clutch is engaged/disengaged.

Well, as far as the reliablity of this “kit” that hasport has. Is there anyone that is using this kit? Are there any issues??

im using the innovative mounts kit, im swapping to the hasport linkage, not because of reliability, because the linkage is in an akward spot for me, but for most others (non turbo) it shouldnt be a problem, both kits are good i thought it was worth it, hydro trannies are easier to find then cable these days

That is another factor that I was taking into account.

do you absolutely HAVE to buy the kits mentioned above to do this conversion? reason im askin is because my cousin is currently converting his 93 ls to hydro and he has ALL parts from a 99 gsr parts car he grabbed up. He plans to hook everything up exactly as it was on da gsr and i would like to no if it wont work without the kit to save him a lil trouble in the near future. also info on this “kit” or a link to where i can read up on it might be pretty helpful. tia.
