Cam Caps?

Anybody know where to find new Cam Caps? I bought a head and it’s got one missing. I’ve done loads of searches on yahoo & google but can’t seem to find them. Thanks.

im sure u can yank one out of a junkyard unless u ant a brand new one

Sorry guys guess I should of been a little more specific…

Junkyard. I am going Sunday so I will look. It is the one by the distributor right?

What happen to the missing cam cap? If I recall correctly, the general rule is you should not use cam caps of another head and if you do, you should lined bore your head. This is probably the reason why you can’t find them.

No personal experience with this so can’t say if this is really true or not. I’m pretty sure you can use it but it may cause wear on the cam/cap since there is a chance of tolerance difference?

Let us know how it goes.

I’d appreciate that DA9. I bought the head off of E-bay. Not realizing the guy didn’t have it. But I bought it and I am not looking forward to having a $400 paper weight. But if I can find one I’ll just have the shop I’m sending the head to set it so it fits right. Heres the actual pic of what I’ve got.

What motor is that from and which one is missing?

It’s a 94 GSR head, B18C1, it is the one farthest right on the front cam when your standing in front of the motor?? Makes sense?

are you sure you have it layed out correctly?
I though the one that the distributor mounts to stood up taller and had a mounting hole in it. I don’t see one of those in your setup.

upon further investigation yes you are missing the one that the distributor mounts to. Good luck finding a vtec head in the junkyard that you can pick apart. Find someone parting out a blown motor would be my guess.

I thought it was from a B18A1. Nevermind. We don’t have any good parts like that here.

damn. Well if you guys could keep a look out at junkyards around your way I would appreciate it. Thanks for the attempted help.

i know somebody with some gsr parts but he said not to mix and match those parts. It may be too much of a gamble to try to get that one working.
Was it a “hella Deel!” on ebay?
Cause thats probably why.

no, but I’d rather take the chance of screwing the head up as compared to it just sitting there. Iether way it will be a waste of money so i’d rather take a chance. The head was $340 plus shipping. It’s next to new very clean, not even the slightest sign of ware.
