Like the topic stated, i drove my car fine the day before but next day, cold chilly night/morning within the negative single to single digit, the car wouldn’t start up, has power for everything else but won’t crank… so today i used a good battery to start up the car and then try charging the battery that was in the car… 30mins later try starting the car, no charge…
the specs on the battery are:
Energizer Brand
Group Size: 51R (94-01 Integra Size)
CCA @ 0 degree F - 500
CA @ 32 degree F - 625
RC Minutes - 85
Date of Manufactered - 06/2005
Just got done taking it out the car, popped the caps and the inside where mainly frozen :S … Is this possible? What type of battery would be suitable for my type of climate? I know the more CCA is better for cold climate where I lived but I been using this battery for the past two years w/o any probelms, never needed a jumpstart or anything… Guess its time to buy a new battery, Was kinda looking at a 94+ Teg Duralast Gold Battery w/ 500 CCA and 625 CA, but it has the same specs like mines just probably newer… Which type of battery would be benifical for the type of weather and still be compact? don’t want a bulky battery like the OEM one… TIA
Just get a battery warmer dude…
I use a closed system green eye battery with 525CCA and I haven’t had a single problem with it. We have reached -3F this year already, not including wind chill. You may also want to check that you have a strong connection from battery to starter, and that your starter is not starting to kick the bucket by testing it at a local parts store.
took it to autozone already and they were astound that the battery froze, but after a hour of charging and thawing out at autozone, it worked again… they just told me to dump out the old acid and replace it disstilled water… but now i’m just looking for a new battery, was looking at a optima yellow top d51r or odessy pc680 unless u guys got better options for me…
Batteries most definitely can freeze.
I stored one of my old Jeeps up north on a friends property and when I went to move it, the battery was frozen solid and had cracked almost in half.
PC680 is a good battery, I plan to switch to one in the new year and tuck my battery out of the way.

yea thats what i’m thinking about to
Check out the PWJDM Prelude battery box. Nice little piece, gonna try to squeeze it in behind the bumper on one side.
I know about password’s relocater box, but i think i can fab one up w/ sheet metal, less cheaper then password’s box ($100) not worth the money… was thinking of putting it under the oem location of the battery…
That maybe true but I’ve found in recent years, I rather spend a few extra bucks to buy something rather then spend a few hours fabbing something. Some times your time is worth more.
