Can i paint my car half one day and the other another day?

Heres the deal. My car has been sitting for almost a year and needs the paint to be sprayed. I’m going to go ahead and do it now. The thing is i have a small garage. Can i paint fenders one day than the doors another ect… Well the shades be off badly or cant really tell?

depends on the color…i say rent a booth…it’ll turn out better

depends on the painter…i say paint it all in one day.

well you can paint it but it will be lot cleaner if you do it all at once cause the paint/clear will flow together when you do it all at once

What about doing 1 whole coat one day, then another coat another day and so on?

The color is the g35 red. I live in a apt. The car doesnt run. heres a pix of it right now. There is now way to paint it in one day because the size of garage. I can paint one whole side of the car. I’m not painting the hood, or trunk, and rear panel. Engine bay is painted and also door jams.

should be good since there’s no metallics.

Thats gonna be nice

well… depending on the temp while you paint it…

the bigger the difference, the more the color varies… i believe. im pretty sure… but not 100% positive.

so i’d say paint it in one day… if you can.

I’d paint it in coats myself.

do NOT paint one coat one day, and another coat the next.

u have to follow the proper flashtimes between coats of everything or it will not work right.

trust me i kno i am in tech school for painting cars.

That is true, I forgot about that. You will have to resand it if you do it in coats…just find a paint booth or good garage and do it in a day. I know for a fact that you can spray the basecoat, then reprep it and spray the clear the next day and it will be ok.

true. its just easier. and comes out better all done in one day.

spend the money.

rent a booth, dont slack on the 2g

definitly dont do it at all if you cant do it all in one day. you will not like the results.

with Reds all u really have to do is remember how many coats of Basecoat u’ve put on eash part. Metallics doesnt matter how many coats of base u put on its not gonna darken the color by putting more coats. Just make sure the primer is completely covered, id say 4+ coats will be needed.

Like someone said, u wanna atleast spray the basecoat all in one day, depending on temperature, u should spray one coat of base every 5-7 minutes, since its probably colder in ur garage u should wait 10-15 minutes between coats, u can wait one whole day and then clear it, but the results will probably alil worse. so basically u should probably be done spraying base in less than 1-1.5 hrs

if u want the paint to last, and to have the best results wiht the least amount of owrries about paint not adhering, and bubbling.
FOLLOW MANUFACTURER DIRECTIONS.

so if the product stuff says 15 min flash time between coats in 70 deg weather, then follow that, and i dont rememebr it off the top of my head, but i can tell u tomorrow what the differences in flash times for hotter and cooler are. do not paint on a moist muggy day it can cause paint to become “waterlogged” and run or bubble.

most of all, make sure the entire car is sanded with AT LEAST 320 grit before primering, and painting. finish with 6-800 on wetsanding, and when u finish it, DO NOT use high power washers, or wax it. waxing should only be done ones a year. and an ewp aintjob doesnt need wax at all, its actually bad for hte paint if u wax too much. and too soon.

just make yourself a booth outside and then paint the car in one day.

word, 2x4s, industrial plastic, and a staple gun will make you a booth.

if u make a booth, make sure u have a good ventilation system. i used cardboard to route the venting and fans with filters attached to them to pull. make sure they dont pull too much air tho.
