Mine are completely shot. When I take these arms off, does the bushing have to be pressed in or can I hammer it in. Anyone know? Also, can I get those in urethane?
TIA

I have to replace one of my bushings too. When I took off the trailing arm, the bushing bolt would not come out on one side. It was fused to the bushing. I had to cut it off and now I have the remnants of the bushing still in the control arm. I had tried to remove the arm completely but I can’t get the bolt on the other end out either. I don’t want to screw with that too much because it is attached to the frame. I spoke to a couple of mechanics about putting the new bushing in. I had decided to use a threaded bolt and nut with washers on each side of the bushing. As you tighten the bolt it pulls the bushing into place. One of my friends has actually done it that way a few times but never on the integra. So far I have yet to get the old bushing out. I am not sure if anyone has some good ideas about that.
You can remove the bushings with hand tools but a hydrolic press is easier. Use a drill to drill out as much if the rubber as possible, pry out the metal insert with a screw driver then use a razor knife to get the remaining rubber out. Once the rubber is removed use a hacksaw and make a cut on opposite sides of the outer bushing collar. After you have cut through the outer bushing collar use a screwdriver to pry it from the control arm. The Poly bushings from Prothane and Energy install very easy they are made up of two halfs and a metal insert (no press is required to install). It is very time consuming to do i this way. The best thing to do is do the front one day and the rear another day. It is an all day project if you have never installed bushings before.
It’s an all day project even if no bolts are completely seized to the bushings… if they ARE seized to the bushings, it’s an all-week project … especially if you’re only using hand tools…
Since /I’ve never done bushings before, and all I have are handd tools, I’m gonna take that as my key to have it done by a pro. Anyone had that done and have any idea what it costs?
Thanks for the info.
