Yes, the 5th gear will fit in the tranny. Also, the tranny is a direct bolt on to any B series engine, mounts are the same.

Not sure if there is a clutch difference between the years or not (hydro vs cable). Hopefully someone will respond to the answer to that!

the first gen B16 trans shares the same axle splines as a 90-91 teg. Not sure what the years are the first gen trans but the clutch splines are the same are the same

thanks for info, keep it comin guys, so far i found out from u that the tranny will fit in my car, and that the axles and all willl fit, now i have to know about the clutch, i have a act stage 3 clutch in my ls tranny now and i’d like to keep it, also does anyone have directions to do the ls 5th gear swap?

as far as i know you cant put a 92-93 ls fifth into a 90-91 tranny, they have different spline sizes, if you can get a 90-91 ls fifth i believe that will fit, also because of the different spline size the 90-91 uses a different clutch disc then the 92-93, pressure plate is the same, but the clutch disc is different

This man speaks the truth…

The pilot bearing on the flywheel is different size isn’t it?

im not sure on that one, best thing to do is see if it registers as the same part number through honda, if it does then they didnt change it, if it doesnt, then it might be different

This is true, but good luck finding the 2 gears. They’ve been discontinued for years.

like people have said, the 92’ fifth won’t fit that tranny. you’ll need a 90-91 fifth. but, for the set up that you have, i think that a Y1 is a much better option for f.i. motors. 1-4 is too short to maximize your powerband, and S1 1-4 will not help you in the traction department either. g/l with the project.

I just installed an OBX LSD in a Y1 tranny (same case as S1) with 90-91 LS 5th. OBX is the cheapest non locker LSD for Honda trannys.

I have an extra LS 5th gear set that I am willing to sell
