My stock one got the famous crack, and im broke… found one from an auto for $40 bucks.
Id rather spend $40 now, then upgrade to aluminum when i have the cash flow.

you totally can. only difference is that you will have 2 additional 3/8" tube coming off near the bottom that will not get connected to anything. When I replaced my radiator with an aftermarket aluminum one the OEM radiator had the connections for the auto transmission. they do not need to be plugged or anything either unless you want to.
