Can I use this Dry cell battery as an alternative to PC680

hey guys like the title says I was searching for dry cell batteries and I came across gruber power after some research. Looking at the Odyssey pc680 the battery is 12v and 16 amp/hour. Gruber power battery that I am looking at is 12v and 18 amp/hour…now my question is its only 34 dollars plus shipping and would this battery work in my car and it is not daily driven just on a weekend basis…please any help is appreciated…thanks

bumpp

That doesn’t look like it’s made for starting engines, it doesn’t say anything about cold cranking amps. That battery is labeled as being designed for “Uninterrupted Power Systems” - which I’ve never heard of before, but judging by the terminology and photos it looks to be for computers, servers, alarm systems…etc. And if that’s the case they most likely aren’t designed to be able to supply enough instant juice to power a starter.

You can look on that same site though, they have motorcycle, ATV… batteries and you should be able to find one of those that works. Deka is another battery brand you can look into.

well I am looking in the motorcycle section for batteries…and i dont know which one would work out since there are no CCA mentioned…

a UPS is used when the electricty goes out. your electronics plug into it like a power strip, between the devices and the wall and it acts as an instant generator so you dont loose any critical information from power loss.
in theory, a server room sized UPS could have enough instant power to start a car…
…but they are the size of a blade type server (about the size of two pizza boxes next to each other)

All the ones I clicked on from that link showed cold cranking amps. Right next to the stats on Amp/hr and above the weight stat.

I would just look thru all the batteries and see what compares most similarly to the PC680 in size, amp/hr, and CCA.

thansk a lot colin…I shall do that

I think I found the battery that is a bit better than odyssey battery, since odyssey pc680 has only 220 CCA this one has 250 CCA and it also has higher capacity…here is the link

That battery has very thin terminals, I would find a way to use OEM style battery wire clamps in place of those tiny screws.
I have one of these glass mat batteries in my cbr and have liked it, course its not an integra…

Those tabs look plenty large to me, pop a ring terminal on there and it should be fine. Personally I hate that style of terminal though, it’s awkward and looks horrible. The PC680 is nice cause you can screw in normal style terminals (personally I think that still looks janky) or simply use bolts and ring terminals for a really clean look.
