can somebody please tell me how to remove the rotor from distributor?

none of my allen keys work!! its a jdm b16a with original components, does anybody know what size allen key i would have to use to remove the rotor, or does anybody know a special way to remove it?? thanks in advance.

Just make sure to find the right allen wrench. That is the only way to get it off unless you plan on drilling it out.
Sorry, but I dont know the size of the hex you need for it…

My 2nd generation B16A used a large phillips screw? I just used the appropriate screw driver and made sure it didn’t slip.

Mine’s like that too, 92 LS and 95 LS distributors.

Yeah, but all the non-obd distributors use the hex screw to hold the rotors in. The obd-1+ distributors use the phillips screw.

some of the replacement rotors I have used utilised a Inch allen socket screw as opposed to an expected metric… Try an Inch standard allen set

Please check the Teg Tips first:

thanks for all the replys guys, oz thanks for the info about the distrubitor that is very useful informantion, however it did not provide me of what i needed =o( anyways southbayteg is correct i had to use a inch allen set to remove the rotor, its a 15cm =o)

sorry to hijack your thread, but can anyone offer advice on removing a stubborn rotor? I have a B17, and I have removed the screw and it doesnt want to budge:(

I have removed the battery and intake tube so I can get better leverage on it, and I am pulling hard! no luck, it moves left and right a little so its not like fused on there or anything and I have changed it before, but I did not have this much trouble

n/m

I got it! I sprayed a little WD in the screw hole and hammered it(not hard) back a little and then started pulling out and it came right off! WOO HOO! I def did not have this much trouble last time, maybe it was the discount AP rotor I used? Im replacing it with an OEM cap and rotor.

How important is the shield behind the rotor? I busted it completely in the process. Anyone else had to replace it? How much and where?

Thanks!

Dont worry about that cover, it doesnt really serve a good purpose. I threw mine away a couple years ago.

I know you got it off already, but in the future try an impact wrench. Took mine off last weekend, put the impact wrench on tapped it a couple times with a 5lb sledge- screw came right off.

heres a good tip for turning those odd sized allen screws on the rotor - use a fairly small sized torx(or star drive) to turn it i forgot what size exactly but i do know it worked very good. i learned this from a friend when he helped me change my distributor on my broke down teg in the parking lot at work.

holy crap i totally stripped the damn screw holding the rotor. How can I take it off ?

Normally I wouldn’t disagree with you BR, but this time I have to.
From everything I understand about Honda Distributors, that plastic cover actually acts as a static shield.
But, with that said, it doesen’t really serve a “good purpose” so removing it won’t cause any problems.
