Can someone help!!

Hey!
HOw can you tell if your motor mounts are going or are finished. This is what i’m thinking. Sometimes when i take off, the car feels like the front end is jumping. Kinda like wheel hop, but the tires aren’t actually spinning. Can this be cause of my motor mounts too??Thanks!

Anyone???

could be. good way to tell is to have a friend sit in the car and hold the brake and let the clutch out fast and put it back in before it stalls. if you motor jumps ALOT then you have bad mounts. My car had such bad mounts it was knocking into the firewall and scratched the top of my hood.

i’m having a similar problem Mikes_Teg, and i’m pretty sure it’s clutch related. Because when I adjust the clutch cable, I get no knocking for 3-4 days, and it comes back after… i’m pretty sure my clutch is about to go!

how much freeplay do you have in the clutch pedal?

It can be my clutch, cause I just had it done!!! I tired the brake and clutch thing that Manson mentioned, and the motor didn’t really move around neither. So i don’t know what it is.

well, someone told me it could be a dropped spring in the clutch… is it an aftermarket clutch or stock?

To be honest with you, it’s a rebuilt clutch!!!

a better way to check your motor mounts is to leave it in first no e brake on and stand in frt of your car and rock it back and forth while watching the engine i never heard of the other method but it sounds like it beats up on your car a bit. the only spring i know of in the clutch assembly is the clutch fork return spring and that just makes the pedal return and clutch fully engage i had that replaed along with clutch b/c it broke and the pedal stayed on the floor it alsolet the fingers / bellville spring in my pressure plate collapse

Hey dattegbol!!!

I did what you said, and the engine would move about an inch, inch and a half back and forth. So i’m assuming I need new motor mounts. How would I know exactly which ones i would need?? Thanks for the help

Mikes_Teg: keep me posted if it solves your problem!
