Hey guys! Just this passed November I picked up a 92 RS on an impulse buy, no idea what to do with it, first time with a da, and 3 cars worth of extra honda junk laying around my garage. Within the past month or so I have leaned towards getting myself into road course/time attack racing and have decided to build the integra for it. The car was owned by an old lady (maintained at honda only while she owned it) up until 2 years ago when a forum friend owned it and sold it to a guy I went to highschool with. It has been oilsprayed since year 1 but that doesnt stop our harsh winters from eating at it. The car has mild stuff done to it already:
320,000km LS still running well
A/c and ps delete
YS1 trans swap
2 1/2" Ractive catback
Hella-ghetto intake
JDM One piece headlights
DC2 Type R steering wheel
Fender Markers
Acura EL Turtle’s
So far I have pulled the seats out and started pulling sound deadening out, and changed the cam seal.
Next up on my list is:
Headlight wiring tuck
Rear wiper delete
Battery relocation to the spare tire well
Swap to all poly bushings and proper alignment
Aluminum half rad
Pick up a set of cheap lightweight wheels
Go out and get some seat time.
Also gutted the carpet and sound deadening, next up on my list is installing the camber/toe arms and half rad, ordering poly end links, sway bar bushings, and front lca bushings. Might end up going poly for the rta, but haven’t decided yet.
Be careful with those Heliums, they are known to be VERY weak and prone to cracking spokes. They may have improved the design for the newer production but I know the original design was terrible. I would do some research to see if they’ve updated the design and find out if yours are new or old. I personally would not use that wheel, I’ve seen too many accidents due to wheel failures on track.
if you track in warm weather you may experience overheating with the half radiator unless you create a block off for where the full size used to be. Our cars are meant to have a full size rad and when using a half size the air can just go around the rad instead of thru it. Not everyone has this problem, but some do. I’d suggest building a block off or be sure to get a good temp gauge and monitor your temps.
For the RTA bushings I’d suggest OEM/Mugen/Hardrace rubber or PCI spherical bearings and shy away from poly. It’s an age old debate, so there’s plenty of info to google regarding poly RTA bushings.
Can’t wait to see the progress on this car and to see it out on the track
Nice! Looking forwarding to seeing progress on this build. For the radiator, IMO go as big as you can. This is only my own personal experience, but everyone single person who I’ve know with a B series that tracked their car eventually upgraded to a full radiator.
Hey guys! So I installed the rad/fan, and I think I am going to build a block off for the other side like previously mentioned by Colin. I also installed new plugs and wires, and pulled the car out of the garage so I could get it towed to the shop to finish up some stuff for me (rta bushings, adjustable toe arms, alignment, fix a broken seat bolt, and safety it). Went with Hardrace rta bushings. Got some pictures while the car was in the driveway, needs a good cleaning though! I also want to try and get my hands on the red/white tails, but I would like to eliminate moisture from getting inside of them, is this possible or is it just something all da owners have to deal with? Oil change, valve adjustment, and adjust the timing are next up on the list, then its time to put the car on the road.
Looks good man, i def would build a motor on the side so you can at least keep the car on the road till motor is built. but good luck bro keep up the work.
Interesting paint scheme, I hadn’t noticed that before. Too bad you’re in Canada, I need a fresh set of 92-93 tail lights. As for sealing them… the OEM gaskets are discontinued but you may be able to find an aftermarket gasket. People have also had luck with using universal weather stripping - it comes in a roll and you can find it at most auto parts stores or even home improvement stores.
I’m going to drive the car as is this year and probably throw a imported b18b in over winter, if it stays a street car I don’t want to go power crazy. I would rather do some more weight reduction than add power, the ys1 wakes it up a bit and i/h/e with a good tune on a fresh engine is enough for what I’m asking of the car. Thanks man! I’m stoked to just go out and enjoy it haha
