I was on this thread asking questions about PCV, and the discussion started to aim towards the charcoal canister. So I start this thread so that we don’t have one thread talking about two things at a time. I hope this will make it easier for people searching for info in the future. So… I have a B18C1 swap by the previous owner, and what I have right now is a lot of random cut an pulg hoses. I have this on the IM.
and I thought it was the PCV system, but turns out it is the hose from the EVAP solinoid.
So my charcoal canister looks like this
I know one hose connects to the oil tank somehow. Now two questions: the rest of the two hoses, one goes to that EVAP solinoid, and what about the other one? my engine doesn’t have a EVAP solinoid at the moment, is it ok to just connect the canister directly to the IM nipple?
Well normally on a DA the red-wrapped hose goes to the throttle body, and even though it looks like it the other hose doesn’t actually go to the manifold. The hose goes to the evap solenoid on the firewall, it just uses a hard line that’s attached to the IM.
You should be able to connect the hose to either the hose you circled in red, or to the nipple on the throttle body, which is where the MAP sensor is supposed to be for the GSR. Instead of just extending the wires the previous owner decided to run more vacuum lines all over the place.
If you do it right you should be able to get rid of that crap on the firewall and just use the gsr stuff.
to correct what I miss typed, I meant gas tank instead of oil tank, and I mean TB instead of IM. So SeanB, I am kind of lost, are you saying that I just connect both hoses to the TB? like connect one on the nipple that is comming out of where the map sensor sits (that white T in the picture) and connect the other to the one I circled in red?
Bumping an old thread, dont hurt me.
Does anybody have pics of an obd2 c1 in a Da? Would like to get the evap stuff setup so it all still works. Using the gsr parts, not the stock firewall mounted ones. Google hasnt helped all the pics that might have helped here are dead.
