did a search and really didnt get an answer…
last nite my battery light comes on… i didn think much of it cuz my car was starting and running fine… and didnt die at all… and when i would rev over 4000 the light would go off so i thought i just needed to give my battery a little charge… the light went off after 5 mins of driving… then this morning i start the car and th elight is on still… still i didnt really car cuz there was no sign of my car dying. i get off work and drive home and im in rush hour… my radio starts to get all weird… on off on off on off. then completely no sound. i knew at this time my battery was goign so i turned my battery off… i was in bumper to bumper so i was afraid i would be fucked cuz i couldnt get my revs up high to keep my battery going. im 5 mins away from home and i notice the instrument panels start to dimm the clock does as well and then all black… car is off… SHIET!.. then i try to turn the car over NOTHING… i knew at this point the battery was dead. so i got someone to push my car down the hll for a roll start… it worked until my car slowed down at a stop sign and tit dies again… all in all i got my backup battery in from home cuz i was only 5 mins away… all is dandy for now… my question is whether my alternator is going and sucking the battery dry or was that battery just gone? cuz the battery that died, was one that had 3-4 jump starts from me draining it from leaving my lights on by accident.
sounds to me like your alternator is going bad, because if the alternator wasnt charging the battery. then the car was running of what was left in the battery.
thats not what i wanted to hear lol oh well frick… new alternator it is… well if the battery i have in now starts to go… ill get an alternator asap
Yeah, you should check out your Alternator. It could be just a bad battery or maybe even check your Alt. belt. Well, I hope you get it fixed.
i work at can tire (canadian hardware/auto) store… im in tomrorow morning so ill bring my car in to get teh alternator/chargin system checked out… shouldnt be a big deal but just a pain
its definitely your alternator.
when your battery light comes on, get your car checked out.
it’s never smart to drive around with a cel/warning light on unless you know for sure what it is and that it’s ok to drive on.
you might have had a dying battery that wasnt holding a charge, made your alternator work harder because it was trying to get it charged up, then the alternator light came on, and driving around for a day or two with your alternator working much harder than usually killed your alternator. or your alternator could have been bad from the get-go. either way you should have checked it immediately. shame shame shame!!
Yea it’s your alternator. I have a new question for you all. I have anew battery and new alternator from a local parts store. Any ways the battery light doesn’t come on till intake it to 9k rpm or even 8k. I have a built motor and other than that the battery light doesn’t come on. I Hawaii volt gauge and it doesn’t drop volts or anything. Could it just be that at that kind of RPM’s the alternator freaks out?
could be but I doubt it… if it is a new alternator (even though it’s a PITA) I’d pull it and swap it for another one…
Last thing you want is that damn light to come on halfway to nowhere and leave ya stranded… my old prelude did that to me…
yeah like the light comes on but it still charges… It’s weird…
