car broken into - w/ pics

last saw the car at around 830 PM when i went to walk my dog.

left for work at 745AM, get in the 1.6EL & drive past the GS-R to find the drivers side rear window smashed. the head unit ripped out of the dash. my 2 10" subs w/ box that was screwed onto the wooden floor board in the trunk, along with the MTX amp attached to the back of the box, all gone. and theres glass in the seat, obviously.

worst part: its parked less than 10ft from my house. i sleep in the room facing the street and my windows were open all night. didn’t hear shit. neither did my dog.

then to top it off, i call geico cause i think i have free glass coverage. well, thats not so. only liability.

this is the view from my porch. what, may be 10 ft?

smashed…

as you can see in the photo they had to unscrew the box from the floor of the car. so im guessing they were there for a while…

by bye pioneer headunit, i enjoyed the time we spent together…

and, of course, all of the glass.

so there it is.

the car is now for sale. i will be posting it for $12500. i will fix the window. i have a lot of new parts for it and the car does now start perfectly (needed a new battery) if you, or anyone you know is interested, please contact me.

i love this car. i have had the engine and the parts in it for a while now, and ive had the GS-R chassis for a few years now as well, but if it is not safe within 10ft of my house, with the doors locked and the alarm on, then what sense is there to put more money and hard work into it when all it takes is one a$$hole with a screwdriver to dam it all up.

today was supposed to be a happy day…ive got tomorrow off and im going camping this weekend…

:frowning: thats fuckin weak, sorry man. IMO this goes to show when you have a car thats modded, it really should be mandatory to have full coverage, especially with a car as nice as yours

GL man

thanks man - and trust me. if it was something i could afford, i would have full coverage.

i can hardly afford to fill the thing with gas. haha. not that ill have to worry anymore - car comes with 1/2 tank of 93 octane haha

is the asking price really $12,500??? or is it a mistake?

btw, shitty luck

haha no, that is not a mistake. perhaps by your appalled reaction however i should reconsider?

does anyone else think the price would be unreasonable? i know how much $ i have into it, in cash, and trust me you all would not care to know…you think 12,500 is crazy…

here is the FS thread~> http://forums.g2ic.com/showthread.php?203690-Upstate-NY-1992-GS-R-with-B18C-...mods-list-inside&p=2153289#post2153289

mods list is there - is my price too high?? im not lookin to make up for $ invested, only to have enough $ to buy a decent car up here in upstate nyy

i actually lowered the price to $10K. engine cost me $5500, GS-R cost me $5000 - so whomever ends up with the car will end up getting ALL OF THE MODIFICATIONS free of charge, internal engine mods and all the other mods…wow aint that a b!%ch

That sucks, and that is alot for it. Not even a real DB2 anymore. Once the B17 is gone its practically a GS with a swap… No less, modding cars is never an investment. Think its worth $5-6K with everything at most, Not many if anyone will pay $12K for a old integra

wow. as if today didnt suck enough. well, ive listed it for $10K, (in the FS htread) im hoping people will make offers…wow man… thanks for the info tho., as much as i hate to hear it, i do appreaciate it

however ~really, its just a GS swap tho? i thought the GS-R was a diff chassis? and it was failed to mention that its not just a ‘swap’ its a B18C, not even a C1 or C5 for that matter. it is truely JDM with the high comp ratio…but im guessing you already know that since i posted the mods lists…just really really god damn depressing…

yeah, Joe. Unfortunately, the only thing that was different between a GS-R and a fully equipped GS model, was essentially the engine. :frowning:

It got a different chassis designation in North America to ensure the correct engine went into it on the assembly line. Because, if I recall correctly, the 2nd gen Integras that were sold in the North American market were actually assembled in Canada. I COULD be mistaken, so I’m not gonna claim that as FACT. If someone else has better info, then by all means, correct it.

In Japan, it was easier to get the correct engine in the correct chassis, as there were other differences between the lower trim level Integras and the upper level Integras (XSi, etc.) so it wasn’t necessary to make a noticeable change to the chassis designation. Again, I COULD be mistaken, but I believe the non-vtec 2dr Integras were DA5’s and the VTEC equipped models were DA6’s. I cant iterate enough, I could be mistaken.

So, sadly to say, without the B17, its little more than a B18C swapped GS for all intents and purposes. The DB2 chassis designation is cool and all, but without its heart, it won’t be looked at as the gem it is meant to be.

Is your B18C from a Type-R or from an SiR-G? They both had the B18C block, but the ITR head was a PR3-4 and the SiR-G was with a P72 (basically a high compression version of our GS-R)

EDIT
its the SIR swap.

I’m not taking anything away from the car at all, as I’ve always enjoyed seeing pics of your car, but sadly to say, that it won’t likely yield more than $5,000 at best. I know its a bummer, bro. But people just won’t pay that much for a car that’s almost 20 years old when they can get into something much newer for that kind of money. Sorry to hear you’re getting rid of it. Honestly, I say just fix it back up. You still have the car, and it won’t take but a few hundred bucks to get it back in top form. Put a new window in, get a new head-unit, and roll without the subs until you can replace them. Shouldn’t take TOO much time/money.

thanks for all that info man. you are correct, it is the SIR swap.

and about fixing it. as i said, i love this car. nothing like it. however, if the car isn’t safe within 10 feet of my house, where is it safe?

id also like to say that i lived in the DEEP ghetto of my city for a full 3 years, 2 different houses. not once did i ever worry about the car. never once did i have a problem. now, less than 1 month out of storage, and im robbed. and i am in a much more affluent area. (whcih apparently has smart crack heads)

i do not have off street parking. when i lost my job years ago i lost my house and my other (the E320). and the closest person i know who has off street parking is 1/2 hour away. since i have no off street parking i have no where to work on the car. the subs, i was gonna sell. the HU i was gonna sell. but that was all with the intentions of replacing them with something.

i will not sell the car for 5K. i bought just the GS-R for 5K. if it doesn’t sell for at least 7500-8000 i will not sell it. i cannot. i will spare you all the gorey details, but i will be making ‘payments’ until i am 60 years old for credit used to get this car built (not all of the $ i will be payin till that age is for the car, but it is all lumped together).

now im not saying it was smart. not saying id do it again. the opposite actually. but theres no way that i can take that much of a loss…ive got a beat ass 98’ 1.6EL DD with about 300K KM on it and that thing will sell for 1000$

now that i think about it, if i had the space i could part it out and make well more than 5K…and i could scrap metal the car for a penny im sure…

Sorry to hear about your Integra! I remember your car from a while back and have always loved it, you should totally keep it. Its hard to believe you have all that money into your car, and no alarm! Alarm is the first thing I have done to all my (nice) cars. You can get a good alarm for a good price in 2010.

hey AKS92GS - thanks a lot man. i appreciate it. believe it or not there is an alarm - its a viper and why it didn’t go off i will never know. i know it was on and the doors were locked. but the battery has been low lately so im not sure if that had something to do with it.

it seems like i may end up keeping the car, specially is no one is willing to pay more than 5K for it. and if that is the case, you can bet i will be installing a 2-way alarm like i had in my previous integra…im still tryin to figure out a way around this no off street parking…i can park it in a parking lot around the corner from me, but statistically speaking, cars are more likely to get broken into in parking lots. that, and should i hear the alarm it wouldbe much father to run to catch the bastard...maybe ill have to start leaving my pit bull in the car…hahah hes friendly but at laest he’ll bark!!

maybe if i paint all the CF with a light coat of red it will deter thieves?

also, im on a rather fixed budget as im making a measly hourly wage, so any work that has to be done, and that i have done, to the integra has to be funded by me selling something i own. and lemme tell ya, im running low on possessions…lmao

and thanks again everyone. talking about it has helped with my rage.

That sux man! sorry to hear…that has happened to me a few times!

yes, it truly sux. no other way to put it really. cant do anything about it but bitch i suppose.

good news is, looks like imma end up keeping it unless i get some rich russian barron who wants a Japanese 4 cyl car…lol

if i do keep it im def not replacing the windows with glass. gonna TFAL them. both side windows.

whats crazy is i never have anything is sight. faceplate was off the radio. you cannot see the sup and amp from the outside. they must have either known me, or been casing my car. it’s only been out of storage for less than 1 month…

First off, sorry to see this happen… its a horrible feeling to have someone break into your ride, makes you feel violated.

But at the same time, you are incredibly luck in my opinion. I don’t know if auto theft is a big problem in your area or not, but I don’t go a week without seeing someones project Honda being stolen here. Hell, my buddy had his B16a powered EF hatch, and his B16B type-r powered EG hatch stolen out of his driveway in the same night… and guess what? Both were about 10-12feet from his open bedroom window. The eg was found. COMPLETELY stripped and the shell was beaten beyond belief. And as I said, this has been a regular occurance in my area for the last few years.

I’m sure if I asked my buddy, he would have been more than happy to replace a window and a deck, rather than have two of his cars stolen. Oh, and both his cars were insured with liability, and he still had loans on both.

As I said, it sucks to see your car in the shape its in… but you’re really lucky.

I remember reading your thread a few weeks back when you were getting it out of storage and ready to roll… it really is a clean car man, id be happy to hear that you’re keeping it and gonna fix it up.

But I’m in agreeance with most of the others here… your car won’t sell for more than $6500 max. Keep it and fix it!

The first three characters in your VIN will tell you where your car is made.

My old DA started with JH4, meaning it was made in Japan. The early 90-91 models were made in Japan.

damn that sucks. i kinda know what you feel like when something like this happens and there a no clues and it makes no sense as to how it happened. a few months ago my rims got stolen off my car in the parking lot of my apartment complex… under a big street light.

=[

but hey, recover rite?

but um… honestly i agree with everyone else regardless of what you put into that car or what its “worth”, it really comes down to what people are willing to pay for it…

but good luck anyway

Sorry about your luck. I live in a safe neighborhood and I won’t even leave my car outside anytime, especially with only liability. I know you want the best for your car, but unfortunately you aren’t going to get what you want for it. Someone a couple years back was selling a MINT aztec GSR (yes I mean almost off the factory MINT) with 70k original miles, I think he ended up getting 6k with the mugen rims on, the other sad part is your car will probably end up with some punk who will crash it, or turn it into some pos rice car.

I know why. Thieves disarm the alarms by popping the hood (there’s a wire that’s visible if you pull the splash guard, they yank on that). Once the hood is popped, they disconnect the battery and they’re free to rip you off. Get hood locks or a back-up alarm that goes off when the battery is disconnected. Preferably both. :gunleft:

thanks man - but im not sure if that was it. the battery was still connected when i popped the hood to make sure all the parts were there. however, the battery was not strong enough to start the car, so perhaps it was also not strong enough to sound the alarm? or perhaps it did, just not loudly enough?

either way - it sux. however, i have decided to keep the car. i will be replacing the window this weekend along with new rotors and pads all around and a new starter. i need a new battery, so ill hafta buy onna them.

then before i put a new HU back into it or anything i will be getting, or installing myself not yet sure, a very sensitive alarm. i dont care if the thing goes off because of loud mustangs, in fact i want it to lol

so, thanks everyone for the encouragement ! more pix will come this weekend! stay tunned
