car died

I already did a search and can’t find any good information. I was driving today with 3/4 tank of gas and my car died like it ran out if gas. It will turn over and catch for a second but then it backfires. i was thinking it could possibly be the fuel pump? any help is much appreciated. thanks

When you put the key into the ignition and turn it to second position, does the engine light stay on? Cus if i does, it may be your main fuel relay, or a billion other things.

Actually upon further investigation the screw that holds the rotor on the distributor shaft snapped

mine screw fell off the rotor
and i replaced it and it still won’t crank over
