Car dies, rpms drop, idles fine

I have a 92 integra rs. The problem that i’m having is that after the car gets warmed up and i’m driving around and i’m driving in the normal rpm range and press the clutch in to shift the gears if the rpms drop below 1000 the car just dies. I have seafoamed the intake through the brake booster vacuum, changed the pcv valve and swapped out the main relay. I also cleaned the sensors in the intake manifold and ran the gas tank down to empty and put new gas in. I have cleaned the spark plugs and checked the oil, disconnected and reconnected the battery, also sprayed starter fluid around the vacuum lines to check for leaks. None of this has produced any results. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try checking your ignition timing.

I would change the fuel filter and also make sure the §§§§§ isn’t about to expire.

make sure what didnt expire???

He means the distributor

I also forgot to mention that the car seems to lose power and torque above 4000rpms.

checked the timing, its good!! i think its the idle control valve.

Iacv wouldn’t cause your car to lose power.

I just recently had a problem which I think was the dist cap and rotor.

I think the middle contact on the rotor wasn’t making good contact to the dist cap and the car engine stopped while driving at about 60km/hr.

Had to pull over and push the car off the main street into a parking lot.

It wouldn’t start at all (just turned over & over) until I removed the dist. cap and cleaned the contacts, been fine for several weeks now.

I was having a similar problem, when i’d pull up to a stop signs/red light, the car would idle low (like 500), and sometimes even die out on me. I took off the IACV and hit it with some parts cleaner (the filter in it was pretty clogged). now it’s perfect, only took about 30 mins :burnout:

high rpm and idling rpm

i thought it was normal for the car to do that, sometimes below 1000rpm but no die on u.

If you haven’t ever changed your distributor, it might be a good time to order one to have on hand. New ones can be sourced fairly inexpensively from ebay and include the ignitor, ignition coil, rotor, cap, etc.
