Car Dies when idleing with the A/C on

When im driving and my car goes back into neutral my car dies. It only occurs when the AC is on, when its off i have no problems at all.

what can possibly be wrong?

i would check your charging system to see if its operating correctly it could be that the increased load on the charging system when you turn the ac on draws to much power away from the engine and thats why when you put it in neutral it dies because of the lower rpms is not running the alternator fast enough to produce the right amount of voltage to supply both the engine and the ac system. does it blow cold during regular driving?Hope i helped

or the compressor or something else in the system could be drawing an irregular current level

you are correct, it blows cold while driving.

could it possibly be a bad alt? could i take it to autozone to have them check it? i no longer have a garage to work on the car.

yeah, get them to check the charging system. they should check it under load as well, which would include all accessories on, so they should be able to tell how much the ac is drawing.
just tell them about what’s going on, and tell them you want the charging system checked

still cant figure this out at autozone didn’t even bother to check the charing system and told me it was the IACV. gonna head to a different one now.

nice. freakin clowns

the other autozone hooked up the check the charging system and it was fine. battery fine. alt fine. i dunno what to do anymore. im just about to take it to the shop to look into it. sucks just got it out of the shop for a new clutch release spring / bearing.

Does the engine just cut out immediately or does it bog down and then die? If it is bogging down then I’d look into your IACV. If the valve isn’t responding to the load from the A/C compressor then it could allow the idle to dip too low and cause the engine to die.
Here is more info than you probably care to have on the IACV:

it bogs down and dies. ive cleaned the IACV before, i guess i’ll go do it again.
