While I’m braking (in neutral or in gear) the car slowly jerks to a stop… it never used to do this but I’m just wondering if it is just a sign that my brake pads are wearing thin… that’s what I’m assuming, just need some 2nd opinions… thanks!
If you need anymore information about my problem, just reply!
Jerking, like a constant front to rear jerk is warped rotors. The warping causes the pads to only make contact on the high spots. Warping tends to happen because the rotor was to hot. Because of hard extended braking or the rotor has just become to thin and can no longer take the riggors of daily driving. Or a combination of both those things. Rotors aren’t hard to replace and most car rotors nowadays CANNOT be turned. They are produced with a few thousandths of minium thickness and once warped if they were to be turned they would be way too thin and could be dangerous and would easily warp again. I don’t know if teg rotors are like this but most car rotors are produced this way nowadays.
Jerking to the right or left is a sign that one of the brakes is working better than the other. This can be very bad in a hard braking situation. This can be caused by alot of different things, pads, calipers, brake lines. But the way it pulls is the side with better brakes so the other side is the one that needs fixed.
