This happened right after I replaced my transmission mount at the shop last night. Maybe it is something I disconnected? The transmission mount was torn in a few spots so I replaced it with the Innovative Mounts solid 1 piece 70am polyurethane bushing. I remember disconnecting the battery and disconnecting the intake hose. Maybe I didnt tighten the grounds?
Well, I realized my new tie downs dont work too well so I electrice taped my battery terminals. That stopped the bogging but I still have a check engine light on my car and it only flashes once every 2-3 seconds.
Nevermind, it still bogs down.
what is; check the code(s)?
Ding ding ding.
There is no check code. It is an OBD-0 vehicle and when the check engine light comes on it only flashes once and that one time is short and every 2-3 seconds. I can turn off the car and the check engine light would go away but eventually it will come back.
the led is on the ecm. turn the key on and check there for the code to be flashed
Pull back your passenger carpet. ECU is under a kickplate that has a small round window top center of the kickplate. you will see an LED flashing there… to read the codes count number of long blinks, then number of short blinks after so 1 long followed by 3 short for example would be 13, you may have multiple codes as well so make sure you count the blinks a couple times through to make sure you get everything.
I believe there is a mis-conception here. I know how to look up the ECU codes on an OBD-0 engine. The problem is that it only does one quick flash every 2-3 seconds. If it was doing the long flashes with quick short flashes then yea I could solve this problem but its not doing that. I know where the ecu is and how to read the codes. I just cant find anything for this blinking problem the ecu is having and why it is bogging out of nowhere. Maybe something got disconnected when I Was working on it. Ill have to put it on the lift later on today.
did you try checking codes while it’s running? sometimes you have to do that
I solved it, but yes I did check the codes while it was running, same weird blinking thing. I guess my friend when we were finishing it up accidentally cut the o2 sensor line wwhen he dropped something in the engine bay. Its been grounding out on the transmission.
well that would definitely do it lol.
Glad ya got it solved
odd. should have thrown a code for sure. possibly did. o2 is a single flash. maybe that’s what you were seeing
