Just bought a 92 Integra and its in great condition, except for the fact that when I Accelerate in whatever gear (quarter-Full throttle) the car starts to vibrate and shake. Once i left off the gas it stops I checked the wheels and the balance and those are fine. I had a feeling it could be the motor mounts but im not sure. someone also told me it could be the axles. Can anyone clarify this for me, I searchd archives and didnt really come up with much. Wheres the first place I should look, how can i tell if the motor mounts are bad? any help is greatly appreciated… thanks
sounds like axle(s).
you can check the mounts on a hoist. get under there with a bar and pry. see if there’s any free play. the front torque mount attached to the crossmember will most likely be toast. it’s pretty much normal for these cars. i’d say, in all likelihood, axle(s) though
well i replaced my axles, lower ball joints, and tie rods, and also rebalnced the wheels, but for some reason, the car still shakes, its not as violent as it was before, but I still feel the vibrating in 2nd and 3rd gear between 2000 and 4000 RPM. i did some research and found out it could be the half shaft or a bent subframe. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Even when you rev it in neutral between 2000 and 4000 rpm? If it’s completely independent of speed or gearing then it could be an engine issue rather than a driveline or suspension issue.
It’s possible that the engine is misfiring under load. If it isn’t that then I would suspect the engine mount, as has been suggested.
I don’t suspect a bent subframe would cause what you’re experiencing.
Could still be axles. If you used aftermarket axles that don’t come with the dampeners, they can still vibrate. Happened to me. I went though two sets or Cardones and still experienced vibration. To get rid of of my vibrations, I bought two axles from Ralxes, which come with the dampeners, and no more vibration during accleleration.
i hope you fixed your problem. I went through 3 sets of brand new axles from a reputable parts house here in so-cal. It was the axles, mainly the inner joint is what causes the vibration issue you’re having. it’s the same issue i’m having.
Find yourself somebody with a DA that does not have any vibration issues and borrow his axles. It sounds crazy, but you have to find yourself a set of axles that you know are good. Please don’t assume like i did. Try it and you’ll find out it was the axles. I’m 100% sure that they are. If not, then you have really eliminated the axle issue. My axles had dampeners on them as well and they still vibrated. I agree with Fossil, find a different brand, or get some used ones that you know are good.
I second this issue on the inner joint. I just picked up a new axle with a dc2 inner joint for my custom differential setup and it shakes a lil now under acceleration… get new axels…
