Only when I get past 100mph up to 125mph BTW this is my suspension setup: Front Pilot strutbar, ST rear swaybar, DC lower tie bar, H&R springs 2.5" drop over Tokico Illuminas, installed on a 3-DR hatch… HTH!
balance your tires, might help. But it usually happens more around 70-80 if that is the problem. Also, check the tightness of your lug nuts. They should be torqued to 80psi. If you had your wheels put on at discount tire, and they are anything like the one here they will all be uneven and around 85-90. I can’t concieve of it being your rotors, but if they are warped severly, I guess I could see that throwing off balance at high speeds. If your brakes don’t pulsate when you are stopping, it probably isn’t your rotors. It could also just be old/worn out suspension.
Side note: It is not safe to drive that fast on public highways, not just because of you, but because of everybody else out there. Meaning that even though you may be safe, you can’t always predict the road surface and the actions of other drivers around you.
If you only go that fast on one road, it (the road) might be the cause of your shimmy, but I would check those lugs first.
Lugz arent the problem, they are tight as f*#k. Anybody else?
I am getting the same thing at 90-110 km/hr … i am pretty sure it’s a combination of poor alignment, low tread, and balancing.
My fix: alignment, balancing (or new tires DOH) … hehe
My car is due for a full-scale alignment/balance, maybe that is at the root of my evil. Thanx for postin up fellaz.
Your lug nuts shouldn’t be tight as ****. they should be at 80 ft/lbs. It may not be your problem, but it can lead to warped rotors and other problems.
Thanx 4 the tip, BMS, Ill keep that in mind.
alignment, change oil
is it only at those speeds, or is it at high RPM in any gear?
At high speeds, not when redlining.
Ok, DEFINITELY balance your tires … I just had mine done, and the wobble at 90-110 km/hr (freeway speed) went away … totally … cheapest fix too.
trend in integra
I have owned two integras. The first was a 90 integra 4dr. that one got totalled, now i have a 2dr 92. BOTH of them have the strange shake or moguls in the road feeling to them. I had 15 inch GSR wheels with new tires on the 4dr, and it still did it. I have stock 14’s on my 2dr now with new tires, newly turned rotors, aligned, balanced, and everything and it still does it as well. BOTH integras have the same mileage - 140k. I think it is something that occurs commonly in the 2nd generations. worn suspension is a very likely cause i think. The vibration seems to be speed sensitive. The faster you go, the faster the vibration and more intense. When i hit 60 on the highway, the shake goes crazy and it is about enough to chatter your teeth if your mouth is slightly open. But if you go faster than 70 it smooths out. anyway, im at a loss for explanations with this one. SURELY with all these integra owners, someone has to have a cure for this common integra disease!!
