Car sputters under hard acceleration

So yesterday I got done work let my car warm up like usual and I begin my trip home so I notice under medium to hard acceleration car starts to sputter like it has some kind of clog or some thing. I’m not throwing any codes and haven’t done anything recently except change gas stations my only thought is maybe i got some jackedup fuel. if anyone has any sugestions on what could be goin on I could really use your input.
Thanks

spark plug is not working wright happen to me when i washed my motor one time.this may be what happen to you

I’ve had that happen to me to when i washed my motor and when I was leaking oil into the spark plug wells. I pulled the plug wires out and every thing looked good down in the wells. It’s also weird cuz it won’t act up until normal operating temp is reached

Yup most likely a plug. I say to also check resistance in your wires and and the ignition coil, and oil in the distributor cap… Wouldn’t hurt since youll be checking plugs.
I’ve had issues with all of those on the donor car I bought.

I put a new distributor on a few months back and the problem just started does anyone have any idea how long stock fuel pump last I really think that’s what it may be

well the best thing to do would be to go into your Haines manual (if you don’t have one get one, its a valuble tool). In the trouble shooting section it says “engine stumbling during acceleration” I say you test what it says in order. I believe spark plugs is first, then injectors, then fuel filter. Don’t jump to conclusions until you’ve ruled out the simple stuff first.

Yea I just figured since it has 217xxx on it itwas the most logical thing also it almost didn’t startback up after I drove for like ten min I had to feather the throttle then it finally started

Thanks for the advice I appreciate it looking through the manual as we speak

:)Cool. post up any problems or questions you may have.

U may want to check the catalytic coverter too to see if the honeycomb inside are broken or see if you can see thru it! Sometimes a converter is just too old and not all the air flow is being push through it causing it to kind of lag even tho you floor it and it’s picking up slowly

Checked all spark plugs and wires problem still the same gonna replace fuel filter post again with results

So went out this morning and couldn’t get it started cranked unit the battery went dead woo hoo herd the fuel relay click tho.

welll it wasnt ur battery giving u the problems while you were on the road it can be a numerous amount of things
-fouled spark plugs
-bad ignition cables
-ignition timing could be off if u replaced your distributor
-clogged fuel filter
-clogged cat
-faulty tps
…usually its not the fuel pump dont jump to the big stuff first

good luck

Thanks for the input imm gonna replace the fuel filter and the spark plugs to day. Wouldnt a faulty tps throw a code or not . I also put some iso heet in the fuel tank incase there was any water in there and it seemed to be a little better still bogs in the lower rpm range At wide open throttle and i checked the timing it was where its been so i dont think its that will post result

So I put new plugs in and every thing seems to bee good I’ll keep u guys posted… Thanks for everyones input greatly appreciate it l. You Guys are great thanks

Good to hear. Hope that fixed it for good.
