Car starts and idles, but dies when I give it gas

I tried a search, but nothing I found is quite like what I have going on. A couple weeks ago, my main relay went bad so I replaced it with one I found at a junk yard. That fixed the problem and it ran fine for about a week. Now it’s doing this thing where it turns right over when I turn the key, and seems to idle fine, but if I try giving it any gas, it just stalls on me. I replaced the used relay I found with a new one, and it didn’t make any difference. Could it be the fuel pump if it idles? I would think that if it runs, that means the pump’s working. The other thing I was thinking is that it would be the fuel filter… Any ideas? I’m trying to decide if it’s worth trying a bunch of things myself or if I should just take it to a mechanic.

check timing and check for vacuum hoses that may have came off

sounds like a fuel filter.start with the easy stuff first man

I put in a new fuel filter yesterday, and now it won’t even start… Could I have really done something wrong when I was putting in a new pump? When I changed it, I didn’t hardly spill any gas at all, so could that mean there’s a leak in my gas line so I’m not getting enough pressure? I’m starting to think I’m just making it worse haha…

**it was a filter I replaced, not a pump
