Like the title says my 92 auto LS won’t start until the check engine turns off after 5-10 mins. I did some searching on the internet i came to the conclusion that it could possibly be my ECU. I think this is the problem because a couple of months ago we had a tropical storm come through here and i had the passenger side leak problem. After i made space in my garage to fit the car i checked the passenger side floor and it was badly flooded. From what i read the ECU is located underneath the passenger carpet correct? If that’s the case, could my ECU have been damaged from all the water that got in?
Your ECU is not at the bottom under the carpet, but behind a kick plate on the passenger side just under the dashboardyour car would have had to been flooded to the point of overflowig for it to get to the ECU.
That said I cannot rule this out, but have you checked the main relay? Have you tried resetting the ECU by pulling the 10 amp fuse in the box under the hood?
That is incorrect.
ECU location is in the same spot for all years. 90-91 and 92-93. The only difference is in how you read the CEL codes. 90-91 on ECU itself. 92-93 on the dash gauge.
ECU for 92-93 is under the carpet.
oops I stand corretced. did not realize it was in a different location.
Kinda sucks for owners of latter half G2 owners in that sense… at least where flooding is concerned.
It is not in a different location. We may have misunderstood each other, or I may have read your post incorrectly.
You are stating that the ECU is located under the carpet, passenger side, correct? If that is true, it is the same location for all years. 90-93.
Where you find it on a 90-91 is the same spot you will find it on 92-93.
What may have threw me off is where you state it is “not under the carpet, but behind the kick plate on the passenger side.” Wherein fact it is under the carpet.
yes that is exactly where I was mentioning it to be LOL. pull up carpet floor pan and there is a kickplate with the ECU tucked beneath. In my case with led window… in his case no window, just a kick plate.
