Car Stereo Shop Owner here

Hi i just wanted to let you guys know that i am Co-owner of Audio Sound Designs in Waynesville NC, im not here to push any products just offer help and advice to anyone here who may need it. Glad to be a part of the Forum

I have a newly acquired 1990 4 door Teg and it should be running in time for our Spl competition on the 15th (if i can find a crank pulley) so you guys will get so see what one looks like with a 12ft^3 sub box loaded with a DD 9518 18" sub looks like

sounds like a cool project! I am looking to redo my sound system here pretty soon, if you want to give me advice, that would be awesome!

Current setup:

Alpine CDA-9851 headunit
profile AP2000 amp
4 gauge wiring kit for the subs
(1) 12" Alpine Type E sub in sealed box
front speakers are Alpine Type S 6.5’s
rear speakers are Infinity kappa 6.5’s

(2) Alpine SWR-1042D subwoofers (wired in parallel)
MTX Bass Slammer BS210S dual 10" sealed enclosure (2 .75ft^3 chambers)
My current profile AP2000 amp (960w x 1 RMS at 4 ohms)
6.5" Alpine type R speakers for doors and rear
Power Acoustik ALFA4-1200 4-channel amp for 6.5’s (100x4 RMS)
4 gauge wiring kit for the subs (already installed)
Alpine CDA-9851 headunit

I have a couple questions in particular. First, should I go with a ported box instead of the sealed? I have heard that ported is louder, but more sloppy, and that sealed is more accurate, and slightly quieter. I like the sealed I have now, which is why I am thinking of going sealed on this. Secondly, do I need the amp for the Type R speakers? will it be a noticeable difference? The RMS on them is 100w, and 300w is the peak. My CD player’s internal amp is only like 28x4 rms, and 50w peak (somewhere around there), so I think I will need it. The last question I have is whether or not you think I will need a capacitor. I have a rockford fosgate 1 farad laying around that I didnt need to use in this car, but do you think I will need it with the type R subs, and running 2 amps?

thanks, and welcome to the site!
