My car is still over heating with a new water pump and radiator. I hooked up my car to the manual switch fan and yes the fan still works.I then bought a new thermostat and it got worse. I ran the cooling system with an open thermostat and it seemed to not over heat no more. The top hose connected to the radiator gets very expanded and fat ever since i ran the open thermostat. And it seems like whenever it overheats it doesn’t suck in the water from the reservoir. But whenever i release the radiator cap valve it then sucks in all the water from the reservoir. I’m not sure what’s going on someone help please.
I would check if the thermostat works. If the car stops having problems when you remove a part then usually that’s the problem. Heat some water to the thermostats rated temperature and see if it opens up. May alamo have been installed backwards if is even possible. And I would replace the radiator cap if the thermostat works. Maybe someone has some more input too…
if it’s not allowing coolant to be pulled back into the system, the cap should be replaced. is this still the original cap? wasn’t replaced when the rad was done?
the cap is a critical part of the cooling system. along with allowing coolant to flow in and out of the reservoir at specified temps, it places pressure on the system. that pressure is needed in order to help keep coolant at optimal temp
Do you have the by pass hoses hooked up? Looks like a U goes from the thermostat housing to the block ) Are you using the thermostat for the Integra it need that thermostat to block off by pass when it heat up. ( the part on the back thermostat)
Yeah the radiator cap is the one with the release pressure or whatever u call it…my oem cap was cracked…I’m just going to let it run without the thermostat for a while…
Nah the radiator didn’t come with the cap…I had to use my oem cap…
Yes the hose is hooked up properly also…I’m just thinking about replacing theradiator cap…
either replace the rad cap with the right psi rating or you have air in the system which you have to bleed or you need to put the right amount of coolant
i would maybe look for a shop that offers a combustion leak test… sounds like my old car, would only puch out coolant and suck it back in if the cap was opened… with the thermostat out and car running, is there bubbles coming up?
Did you bleed your radiator coolant? Sometimes you migh have air in the system.
Yeah ima try to bleed the cooling system to see if it works thanks guys…btw I hooked up my fan to my foglights because I don’t know how to hook up a manual one…someone give me tips?
im having the same problem and my car is also horizen grey. maybe if we paint the car a different color it will stop overheating, hahah !!!. i just replaced the waterpump, thermastat, and radiator cap. i even bought a new the radiator thinking the old one was clogged. it still overheats. the temp gauge will go up past half for a couple a minute or two then go back down to normal. im gonna run it without the thermasta tomorrow and see what it does!! if you find the problem please let me know horizengreyDA9. it staring to drive me nuts. i did notice that with cap off it doesnt make bubbles.
check your heater coil
