Car Waxes...

What is the best car wax out there? My paint is blue and has little swirlys all in it. I used the Black Magic and that didnt do shit.

meguiars makes good stuff

as well as mothers

try turtle wax polishing compound followed by black magic liquid wax or a carnuba wax. i like the black magic it works well on my milano red.

for off the shelf stuff, i’d say meguiar’s or mother’s.

but this stuff is sooooo much better. http://www.adamspolishes.com/ it goes on easier and comes off easier. leaves better results. you use less stuff. i threw away and gave away all my meguiars stuff after i bough this stuff.

yeah, adams polishes is good stuff. I usually go with Meguiars for over the counter products. But I recently ordered some products from www.Poorboysworld.com. Poorboy’s makes my favorite car care product of all time, its called Spray & Wipe, its a straight cleaner no fillers or waxes, used similar to a quick detail spray to clean up dust and light dirt. It works like magic, I use it on everything… its my new favorite glass cleaner.

A wax simply hides swirls, it doesnt actually remove them. You should probably use a claybar, then a swirl remover, then polish, and top it off with a wax. Takes alot of time and elbow grease but its well worth the effort.

Meguiars Liquid Car Wax.

I used it on my Black DB1, and it came out looking GRREAT!!, The Flint metallic in the paint shows perfectly…

All good choices. When you polish your car, use the least aggressive polish first, and if you can, use a random orbital to speed the process up, saves on the arm.
A web site that is very user friendly is Detail City, try it , you’ll like it.

I detail for a BMW dealership and if you want to do it right then use a high speed buffer (variable speed up to 3000rpm). Wash it first, and claybar it (with soap and water) if you have tar buildup or the paint feels like sandpaper.

Then you can use a wool pad or hard foam pad with your buffer (depending on how bad of condition the paint is in) and some compound that cuts to remove any minor scratches (typically buff at 1800-2400rpm). Usually after using these pads the paint is pretty swirled and cut up…but that can be fixed with using a rippled soft foam pad (1500-1800rpm) and a silicone-based glaze (something like Meguiar’s “Mirror glaze”). Once you’ve removed the cut marks you can move on to a soft flat foam pad (600-1200rpm) with mirror glaze or straight to wax.

When applying the wax you don’t need to go in small circular motions since you just spent all that time to remove swirls, just wipe it on as if you were taking wax off. I’ve been amazed at how well some cars like trade-in’s or customer pay details I’ve done have turned out. You can take some complete beaters and restore them to a condition where they almost look new.

Meguiars NTX hands dow n the best wax i’ve ever used… made my evo look like glass… and the pic doesn’t do it justice

lol, when I went to one of Carlisle’s import shows last year Meguiar’s was there. I asked one of the guys working for them where all their “good stuff” was at. He told me that they were only there trying to push their cheaper, basically more crappy waxes, and they were showcasing mainly their NTX line.

It may give you a shine, but it doesn’t last or protect as long as their other more professional products do. Don’t get me wrong though, Meguiar’s makes an excellent product.

WAX SHOP WAX is good, you can also search up wax on the internet, they rate em all.

www.zainobros.com.

Here’s a good site for waxes and cleaners: http://www.autopia.org/index.php

They review them, have helpful guides and a forum as well.

It also helps when your paint isn’t 14 years old! But damn that EVO looks like it’s frozen over!
