Car won't start, clicking noise

Hi, I got a good scare today that’s still haunting me.
I put into my oil this engin restorer and lubricant and it worked good for that day and the next. The I didn’t go turn it on for a day and a half and today I went there and pressed in the clutch, turned the key, and heard clicking noises. At first when I tried starting it, it just started the clicking noises. I tried starting it a few times, and listening from where it’s comming from and it seems like it’s below or at the starter position. Everytime I try to start it, it’s like a clicking noise, and that’s the only one I hear. I got a 90 Acura Integra RS, PLEASE HELP.

Your battery might be low, due to a bad alternator. try to get a jump start and then take one of the battery terminals of and see if it turns off. If it does your alternator is bad, if it doesnt it might just be your battery. If you hear a grinding sound it might be your starter. You can always get both of these tested at AutoZone for free.:bored:

I’d suggest alternator too, and I’m not sure if they have an autozone in london, but I THINK canadian tire does charge system checks for free too. What’s strange is that normally if your alternator is going, your charge light would have come on the last time you drove it. Do a quick inspection and see if you can see any frayed wires that might have drained your battery.

If Canadian Tire changes your alternator with a new one, expect a $300 bill (cdn of course).

Just thought of this – did you maybe leave your lights on last time you drove it?

If that’s the case, all you’ll need is a boost. Run your car for a while, and your battery will recharge.

Thanks, I was thinking of takign off the alternator and starter and getting my friend to go to Canadian tire to test it,

If i were to take my minivan to where my car is at and switch the batteries, just to see if it starts, would that work???

Definitely. Just try what i mentioned earlier, once your car is runing take one of the terminals off and check if it turns off. Maybe you left your light on and all you need is a jump start, if that is the case there is no need to take off the alternator or starter. Try the easiest things first .

hey, i had that problem last week. buncha clicking by the starter? mine was my battery, so hopefully that’s all it will be for you too…HTH

yea that’s what it is, when I turn the key it’s like a clicking noise, that comes from the area around the starter, but I’ll try that again.

my last quesiton, can somebody guide me through the jump starting cause I never done that and don’t wanna mess up my car more.
